Talk:King K. Rool

The costume is based off his classic design, not his modern one, wouldn't it make more sense to make the classic one the infobox image? --Skittles (talk)

Given that the differences are extremely minor (a very easily missable difference between tan and gold for his stomach and slight texturing detail), there's not really a point. Especially given that his Brawl and SSB4 trophies are the post-DK64 design, and those are still relevant. Miles (talk) 04:40, 29 July 2015 (EDT)

Have king k rool redirect here

Who ever types out the period? 98.116.134.108 13:57, 3 September 2018 (EDT)

We do not allow creation of redirects for typos or grammar corrections. Black Vulpine of the Furry Nation. Furries make the internets go! :3 19:40, 3 September 2018 (EDT)
Well, if I may be so bold as to point out, both Mr. Game & Watch and R.O.B. have existing redirects without periods. Aidan, the Rurouni 19:54, 3 September 2018 (EDT)
Looks like this redirect has been added. SuperFalconBros (talk) 09:39, 4 September 2018 (EDT)
The weird thing is that I didn't see this section until now. Unowninator (talk) 15:44, 4 September 2018 (EDT)

Artwork in header

The recent re-revert to use the DK64 artwork was a mistake. Although some details, such as the belly/armor and scale textures, match that artwork, the overwhelming majority of it (height, proportions, gait, face, cape fastener, actual shape and features of the belly/armor, size and design of the crown) match the Jungle Climber render much more closely. We're well past 1RV here so I'm not touching it, but I'd like to hear what other people think. SuperFalconBros (talk) 16:01, 22 October 2018 (EDT)

Sakurai heavily bases the Kongs on their appearance in the original Country games, so it would make sense that K. Rool would be as well; that said, while there are other elements pulled from the recent design, I still would argue it's supposed to evoke the feeling of the original K. Rool (and I'd also argue that, given how it's the entire body, the scales is what's the overwhelming majority here). Aidan, the Spooky Rurouni 16:06, 22 October 2018 (EDT)
I'm with Aidan here. I think that King K. Rool in Ultimate is pretty clearly inspired by his design in the Rare games. John This is for my signature, which I was told needed to be edited. HUAH! 16:17, 22 October 2018 (EDT)
If you take the scale and belly textures from the DK64 design and paste them onto the Jungle Climber design, you pretty much have the Ultimate design. That's why I say overwhelming majority. I'm hard pressed to find anything besides those textures that obviously comes from the DK64 design. Aside from the overall posture and stature of the Jungle Climber render, you have details like the four small teeth on the lower jaw matching the Ultimate design. I have to agree with using the Jungle Climber render. As much as I love the DK64 artwork in how well it expresses the character, his Ultimate artwork is mostly the Paon redesign with the textural detail from the original Rare design, so the newer artwork feels more fitting. Honestly the SSBU design is clearly trying to evoke both the Rare and post-Rare designs and mixes elements of both, so either way is fine by my judgment. Miles (talk) 18:34, 22 October 2018 (EDT)
