The word “cameo” on Heihachi’s appearance in the Namco RouletteEdit

If we’re not counting Mario Maker costumes as cameos of the character, then the Namco Roulette can’t really be considered a cameo either. Both are just sprites, and both are technically not said character (the Mario Maker costumes are still technically Mario, and the Namco Roulette are technically just props on Pac-Man’s taunts, rather than the actual characters). If one doesn’t count as a cameo, I personally don’t think the other should count either. Because right now, Heihachi’s page says that he cameos in pixel form. For lack of a better way of wording this, what on earth are you talking about? Alex the Jigglypuff trainer 20:11, June 30, 2019 (EDT)
If I had to hazard a guess, I think Lou's equating the Namco Roulette sprites to Mario Maker costumes? But the Mario Maker costumes don't count only because they're Mario in a costume, not because they're sprites. It's fine to call a Namco Roulette appearance a "cameo". ~ Serena Strawberry (talk) 20:18, June 30, 2019 (EDT)
Currently, the page reads this:
While Heihachi no longer appears as a Mii Fighter costume, he instead cameos in pixel form during Pac-Man's Namco Roulette taunt. The sprite is taken from Tekken Tag Tournament 2, and is based on his gray-haired appearance from Tekken 3 onwards.
The thing I’m concerned about is the word “cameo”. There was a recent discussion concluding that Lucas and Dark Pit’s appearances as Mystery Mushroom costumes in Super Mario Maker do not count as cameos, due to those technically being Mario. The problem is those are also full sprites with unique sound effects, much like the characters in the Namco Roulette. There’s also the fact that the Namco Roulette characters are also technically not those characters, but rather, props. I figured that if Mystery Mushroom costumes aren’t really cameos, neither are the Namco Roulette characters, as both are merely sprites, and neither are technically the character themselves. So I replaced the word “cameo” with “referenced” on this page and Gil to watch on the wording, yet both edits were undone. Maybe starting a discussion based on one word was going a little too far, but it was the only way to debate on changing that one word without edit warring. Hopefully that clears it up a little bit. If that's what you mean, then Super Mario Maker is completely irrelevant to Super Smash Bros. Alex the Jigglypuff trainer 20:23, June 30, 2019 (EDT)
It was relevant for a trivia point on Lucas’s page stating that he and Dark Pit only had one appearance outside of Smash. It ended with saying that Super Mario Maker was not a cameo appearance for them, despite their sprites replacing Mario’s. Lou Cena (talk) 20:28, June 30, 2019 (EDT)
As far as I can tell, a formal discussion never actually took place on that issue, so you should be taking it up there. Anyway that absolutely would be considered a cameo... Alex the Jigglypuff trainer 20:30, June 30, 2019 (EDT)

I think some people appear to be conflating a cameo and an appearance as being the same thing when they're not. A sprite appearing on a shirt would be a cameo, not an appearance. Likewise an amiibo costume is a cameo, but it's not an appearance. Alex the Jigglypuff trainer 20:35, June 30, 2019 (EDT)
I sincerely hope you aren't seriously thinking this, Lou Cena.
The discussion was about the characters themselves appearing, versus a costume of them appearing. Ness appears in a movie theater in Mother 3, therefore he makes a cameo appearance. Bowser replaces Madama Butterfly if Bayonetta has on the Peach or Daisy costume, therefore he makes a cameo appearance. Any of the characters appear as they are in the Namco Roulette, therefore they make a cameo appearance. Aidan, the Rurouni 20:24, June 30, 2019 (EDT)

(reset indent) Think about it this way: In Smash 4, King K. Rool is referenced through a Mii Costume, and cameos as a trophy. Same idea with Mario Maker costumes versus Namco Roulette references. ~ Serena Strawberry (talk) 20:33, June 30, 2019 (EDT)

Reverting crap out of spite and then arguing about it after is a colossal waste of everyone's time. Learn to take defeats, and better yet, learn our typical style of things because this kind of crap is highly irritating and just cannot continue. SerpentKing 21:22, June 30, 2019 (EDT)
