Excuse me?

Why was this moved from Spaceshifting Wormhole to Subspace hatcher? Yeah okay, it's a completely made-up name, but there's no known official name, and the new title is no better than the old one. I say we move it back because the move was unnecessary. Toomai Glittershine Toomai.png The Stats Guy 02:21, June 24, 2010 (UTC)

Well...
  1. This most certainly is not, in any way, a wormhole. That would mean the creatures being spawned are coming from somewhere else, and thus, aren't actually being spawned.
  2. Hatcher is a more proper name because, especially in video games, things that spawn enemies are referred to as hatchers.
  3. Spaceshifting?
I don't see any problem, to be honest. BNK [E|T|C] 02:24, June 24, 2010 (UTC)
  1. How do we know they're not coming from somewhere else? Lack of evidence.
  2. I've never played a game where spawners are referred to as "hatchers", with the exception of the Metroid Hatcher in MP3:C. Since that includes over half of the franchises represented in Smash Bros., the terminology is out of place.
  3. Okay, "spaceshifting" isn't the best word, but since this page was introduced a year and a half ago, the name may have stuck already.
Yeah, it's not exactly a "problem", more like a "this did not need to happen so why did it". Toomai Glittershine Toomai.png The Stats Guy 02:29, June 24, 2010 (UTC)
  1. What I propose makes more sense, though.
  2. Star Fox: Assault is another... damn, you're right. I'd cite other games, but they're non-Nintendo. Still, "spawner" or "hatcher" >>> "wormhole".
  3. I don't think so, Tim.
If it's not a problem, why are we having this discussion? BNK [E|T|C] 02:33, June 24, 2010 (UTC)
Because in the general scheme of things, necessary change > no change > unnecessary change. This seems like an unnecessary change. I mean, it's one user's made-up name versus another user's made-up name, with the only difference being that one has been in use and the other is apparently new. I don't think the change was unnecessary, but you do. I feel it is appropriate, and spaceshifting wormhole (especially spaceshifting) is not a fitting name for this enemy. BNK [E|T|C] 02:49, June 24, 2010 (UTC)
Well, look at it this way. In your opinion, you feel that the relevance of the new name is more important than the hassle (however slight it may be to us) of changing everything. On the other hand, it is my opinion that when there are two names of equal unofficial status, whichever one is used more commonly (typically whichever one is introduced first) should be the one used here. When it comes to those criteria, "Spaceshifting Wormhole" has been in use longer (first introduced to the internet on Marth 16th 2008 at MarioMonsters.com) and has been picked up by other people (on GameSpot, SSBB has been tagged with the term). Alright, new info. It seems that in the game files, this thing is referred to as "AdvGdtGeneratorDim". I don't know what the "Gdt" could stand for, but since subspace is referred to in various places in the files as "Dim" or "Dimension" and "Adv" is probably short for "adventure", I think the most-correct name may be "Subspace Generator". Go with that then. Miles (talk) 18:13, September 12, 2010 (UTC)
Right, I'll move it then. Toomai Glittershine Data Node 00:25, September 23, 2010 (UTC)

Missing Japanese name

According to Google Translate, it's "Jenerēta", but I don't think that's a reliable source. Kirby's Crazy Appetite ~ KirbyHeadYellowSSB.png 21:50, 14 June 2016 (EDT)
