Differences[edit]

What exactly are the differences between the Final Smashes by use of a Smash Ball and the Final Smashes by use of a Final Smash Meter? I feel there should be a list of comparisons, even if it just damages/lasts slightly less. Also, if you receive a Smash Ball while the meter is on, does it count as a normal Smash Ball FS or a weaker Final Smash Meter FS? Wolff (talk) 18:48, April 24, 2019 (EDT)

Does anyone know the differences between the regular Final Smashes and the Meter's, and if you receive a Smash Ball while the meter is on, does it count as a normal Smash Ball FS or a weaker Final Smash Meter FS? Wolff (talk) 19:25, June 18, 2019 (EDT)

I don’t think enough play with either enough to know, otherwise I think we’d already know more then the difference then just two of them. Unless, there IS only two that have any differences whatsoever. 66.194.104.5 20:32, November 19, 2019 (EST)
This is really late, but I tested on several characters and found they all had a consistent damage multiplier of 0.753x. Granted, this is for maximum damage, and final smashes with projecticle that can miss are really difficult to get max damage on, but this is much easier to see on cinematic final smashes that initiate with one hit. I can say for certain the formula is (smash ball damage x 0.735) = final smash meter damage.
Yeh, but it’s not just one single number for all characters. I mean, look at Marth and Lucina, their FS’s have been drastically toned down due to being literal OHKOs at full throttle. Black Vulpine the 🦊Furry🐺. Furries make the internets go! :3 14:41, December 18, 2021 (EST)
[Responding to The Other Jared] Most final smashes have a damage multiplier of 0.7x, but there are some exceptions, especially for DLC characters. I think you're getting your value of 0.735 because you haven't considered that outside Training mode there is a 1.05x freshness bonus applied to all unstaled attacks (which final smashes will almost always be), where 0.7 x 1.05 = 0.735. You can find these values on the params spreadsheet, which I have tabulated here. Sora's data is missing because 13.0 params aren't publicly available yet. Verdict on listing damage/knockback multipliers[edit]

So, this article is tagged as incomplete, on the grounds that more information about differences between the regular and meter final smashes are needed. All the relevant information is in the params, which I have tabulated here, but I'm not sure if it's actually necessary to have the technical details listed here, or if it would, for example, be better to list relevant changes on the individual FS articles. Thoughts? Alex the Weeb 20:58, December 28, 2020 (EST)

Bumping this. I'd really like to get that tag sorted out, since we basically know everything about the changes made to final smashes by the meter, and just need to establish what does and doesn't need to be covered. Alex the Weeb 11:01, February 6, 2021 (EST)

I feel like a list here would be best as it gives readers a better idea on the specifics (handy for the 5 competitive casual smashers). Perhaps instead of it being on the Final Smash pages it could be on the fighter pages' moveset table, since those are arguably more visible and they already list the damage (which the Final Smash pages don't consistently do). --CanvasK (talk) 11:28, February 6, 2021 (EST)

Bumping again, I think it would be ideal for the moveset tables on character pages to use a rollover template (similar to the one already used for smash attacks and short hop aerials), but at the same time an overview table on this page would still be useful. --Rdrfc (talk) 06:43, December 14, 2021 (EST)
