Protection?

It seems like this page has been vandalized quite a bit recently by multiple different IPs. Should the page be put under semi-protection as for now? Crazy456Rhino (talk) 10:09, November 4, 2019 (EST)

I don't know why those IPs always do that? Lucina-is-better-than-marth (talk) 09:39, January 14, 2020 (EST)

Lucina-is-better-than-Marth I think it could be because they all seem to want characters that are either already present in some caliber or are simply impossible/inane, such as Waluigi, Shadow, Sora(which might be impossible thanks to Square Enix's character restraints), and for some reason, a Tetrimino JustSomeCloudMain (talk) 18:57, May 20, 2020 (EDT)

I actually think it should be semi-protected. Since IPs can freely edit this page and easily put false info on it, then perhaps it's dangerous to leave it unprotected from IPs. SonDanielAn icon for my signature.A signature head icon. (talk page) 21:23, May 20, 2020 (EDT)

...Well seeing as this was reopened I would say that semi-protecting this would be a smart idea since yes IPs are constantly adding blantly false info, but at the same time so far it's only 1 IP that keeps doing this so it may be better just to block the IP (in fact it is currently blocked right now). If more IPs come and vandalize this then yes it needs semi protection, at least until all DLC is released. Image for my signiture icon. OmegαToαd64the Best Kαrter 21:26, May 20, 2020 (EDT)

Wait, which IP was that? SonDanielAn icon for my signature.A signature head icon. (talk page) 00:05, May 21, 2020 (EDT)
I'd rather not blatantly mention since we're not supposed to give vandals attention. You can check the revision history to see. Image for my signiture icon. OmegαToαd64the Best Kαrter 00:22, May 21, 2020 (EDT)

Blatant vandalism is always the problem on this page. either establish protect, semi-protect, or protect this page to make vandalism less clear. But here is the problem, I am leaning to support the protction but my suggestion is to fully protect the page so only the Admins or higher can edit this page. I said this because even the fact that the IP people vandalize this page, Some Autoconfirmed or Established users vandalize this frickin page too. So I think for the sake of this wiki's lifespan, I want this to be Fully-Protected for this thing. S3AHAWKThis image is my signature icon. SW:PROTECT: Protecting it to be edited by only admins is not going to happen. Full protection is for:
  • Protecting important pages that are highly vandalized, such as the Main Page on large wikis.
  • Maintaining the integrity of the site's logo and favicon.
  • Protecting the interface and system messages in the MediaWiki namespace (these are protected automatically).
  • Deleted pages that are continually recreated
If autoconfirmed and established users have vandalized this before it hasn't happened in a long time. Should this page be protected it's going to be either autoconfirmed or established level, yet even established may be too high unless an autoconfirmed user vandalizes it, which seems unlikely. As someone who intends to become an admin here, yes it is reasonable for this page to be protected, but full protection is not happening. Image for my signiture icon. OmegαToαd64the Best Kαrter 00:49, May 21, 2020 (EDT)
Ok, Well then, I'd say this should be either auto or established protected. S3AHAWKThis image is my signature icon. Also seen on Wikibound as File:S3AHAWK SIG.pngThis is my signature icon (talk) 00:51, May 21, 2020 (EDT)
I'm in support of semi-protection for this article. I personally feel that established protection would be a heavy measure for an article like this, seeing that any autoconfirmed vandals can more easily be dealt with than IPs. However, I would be willing to accept that level of protection as well if consensus agrees on it. I am also in favour of full-fat protection, because edit warfare is starting to get boring and IP users sometimes remove all the content and replace it with either a dead meme, provacative commentary, or both. Also, a quick question if I may: are deleted pages that are continually recreated an actual problem on this wiki? If so, could soneone give me an example or something?(this was by JustSomeCloudMain, I forgot to sign it)JustSomeCloudMain (talk) 22:37, May 21, 2020 (EDT)

Come to think of it, I cannot find any way to edit my OWN USER PAGE! (Reason being I cannot see the little edit button, and I think a protection mishap is to blame). If I tap the spot where the thing should be, nothing happens. The help pages are too broad to be of use either, so if anyone thinks they know a remedy for this or perhaps a reason why it is happening, I will have a section on my talk page for these. JustSomeCloudMain (talk) 18:24, May 24, 2020 (EDT)

That is because you need to be Autoconfirmed in order to make a page, which unfortunately includes your user page. Once you meet the Autoconfirm criteria you should be able to make your user page. --CanvasK (talk) 18:29, May 24, 2020 (EDT)
Oh, that makes sense. They should have a beginners manual for new users. JustSomeCloudMain (talk) 18:33, May 24, 2020 (EDT)
Right now this page is what you can use as a beginners guide. It gives a general description of some of the policies and you can check out the policy/guide pages that are linked there and in the navigation box for more details. --CanvasK (talk) 18:47, May 24, 2020 (EDT)

Split the series subsection into free updates and challenger packs

The subsection is getting pretty crowded, and half of the problem is that the free DLC spirits are mixed in with the paid ones. 72.203.118.154 15:07, March 15, 2020 (EDT)

Coronavirus

Didn’t Sakurai mention that everything is postponed due to the Coronavirus, potentially including FP2? If he did, should we mention it on the page? Pratikmii03 (talk) 12:26, March 21, 2020 (EDT)

I think he did, but don't mention it. That happening will trigger this:

Disliking of Joker (student), Inkling (fifth variation), Meta Knight (Galacta and Dark variant), and Kirby (eighth coloring) (all me). Unsaid12 (talk) 17:30, June 8, 2020 (EDT)Unsaid12

Mii Fighter costume trivia??

Hi smash wiki. I was just wondering if we can add mii costume reveal trailer facts or general facts about each of the mii fighter costumes????? S3AHAWK (talk) 15:06, April 18, 2020 (EDT)

Most of those are/should be on their respective pages. CookiesCnC Signature.pngCreme 15:34, April 18, 2020 (EDT)

Split page

I support this suggestion, so here’s what I can do to split it: split the page into several pages, one for fighters, one for spirits, and one for mii costumes. The current page will be a redirect. Let me know if anybody has other suggestions. SonDanielAn icon for my signature.A signature head icon. (talk page) 15:42, April 25, 2020 (EDT)

I think just splitting the Spirits off of the page would work. They take up almost half of the page both in length and bytes. Perhaps make a subpage, "Downloadable content (SSBU)/Spirits". If people really want to make a distinction between free and paid DLC Spirits then the page can have all of the event/gift Spirits with a link to DLC Spirits (mode). --CanvasK (talk) 16:01, April 25, 2020 (EDT)
Hmm. Good idea! Do you think we a consensus for the split to happen? SonDanielAn icon for my signature.A signature head icon. (talk page) 18:03, April 25, 2020 (EDT)
I'd say so. It is a proposal of sorts and it is a 33+k bytes to move. Some people may object and some others may have different, maybe better ideas. --CanvasK (talk) 18:11, April 25, 2020 (EDT)
Put my support down for the "Downloadable content (SSBU)/Spirits" plan. Ahemtoday (talk) 21:48, April 29, 2020 (EDT)
I support this idea. Awesomelink234, the Super Cool Gamer (talk) 18:35, April 25, 2020 (EDT)
I also support this split. - Mega Mario Man (talk) 20:11, April 25, 2020 (EDT)
I support this idea but in a different way, I think all the spirits that are added post launch should be added on their own page so the page can be added, but I also support the idea of splitting the paid and free DLC spirits but either way I doubt you would care of the first option. Are you suggesting a completely separate page or as a subpage as mentioned in my original comment? Not many people have said which option they support, so having a vote for a specific option would help narrow down what we end up doing. --CanvasK (talk) 20:24, April 25, 2020 (EDT)
I a suggesting to split the spirits to a completely separate page in a redrict.S3AHAWKThis image is my signature icon. Also seen on Wikibound as File:S3AHAWK SIG.pngThis is my signature icon (Talk) 20:33, April 25, 2020 (EDT)
I agree as well, it will save a lot of stress and navigating.--Jacob9594 (talk) 21:57, April 29, 2020 (EDT)

It seems there is a good amount of support for a split in general. The issue now is how to handle it. There are about 3 for a subpage (myself, Son Daniel, Ahemtoday) and about 2 for a new page (S3AHAWK and Jacob9594), I'm not sure which options the other users prefer as "new page" wasn't suggested as an option when they voted. Going to wait for more responses to see which is preferred. Will also need a name for the new page if that is decided. --CanvasK (talk) 22:09, April 29, 2020 (EDT)

If we are going to make a new page, I suggest copying the source of the spirits, and make a new page with new info about the DLC spirits. S3AHAWKThis image is my signature icon. Also seen on Wikibound as File:S3AHAWK SIG.pngThis is my signature icon (talk) 17:17, May 5, 2020 (EDT)
Seems I'm a bit late to the party, but I think that creating a subpage is the best course of action here. I don't think that a new page with the Spirits table would need a lot of new information to be added. At its bare minimum, simply holding the table would still fulfill the base function of basically halving the page count and improving navigation. Besides, being that the table would be a subpage of the downloadable content article, that in itself takes care of pretty much all associated contextualization. Acgamer28 14:18, May 8, 2020 (EDT)

So, uhh, has a consensus been reached? SonDanielAn icon for my signature.A signature head icon. (talk page) 14:25, May 25, 2020 (EDT)

You know, they should have split the page long ago if they had reached a consensus. I am not interested in long waits. JustSomeCloudMain (talk) 16:19, May 25, 2020 (EDT)
Yes, there is a consensus that the page should be split. The issue and why I have been holding off on moving forward is because there is conflict on how to split. The options are a subpage or a completely new page, neither has had overwhelming support, though I think the subpage idea has a couple more users backing it. --CanvasK (talk) 16:59, May 25, 2020 (EDT)
I don't see the benefit in having a new page. A subpage is a much more practical solution, and is reasonable considering the nature of what we're splitting off and how it relates to the topic of its parent article. Besides, if it's taken this long for any other users to provide any input on this proposal, I think our current votes are as good as we'll get for a while. I say we move ahead with it. Polish prices?

DLC Pack 2 russian price

Hey, I just saw that russian price for FP2 listed here is 3 times more expensive than real price. As you can see by this page https://www.nintendo.ru/-/Nintendo-Switch/Super-Smash-Bros-Ultimate-1395713.html#Fighters_Pass_Vol__2 real price is 2249 RUB. Since this page is protected, please correct this information. Also the digital version of the game costs 5249 RUB, so the cost of base game and all dlcs is 9748 RUB, so please add this info as well. Thanks in advance. --Alxtrbl (talk) 03:05, June 23, 2020 (EDT)

Mash Sections?

Do you think it would be possible to mash everything onto the charts, including descriptions of the characters and stages, as well as adding the waves of Mii Costumes that release simultaneously with each pack. Here's an example:

Pack No. Fighter Stage Universe Songs Spirits Mii Fighter costumes Release date

Joker SSBU.png
Joker
SSBU-Mementos.jpg
Mementos
PersonaSymbol.svg Persona April 17, 2019
Newcomer Joker from Persona 5 was announced as the second DLC fighter during The Game Awards 2018 on December 6th, 2018. He is the first playable character included with the Fighters Pass Vol. 1. As part of Challenger Pack 1, his accompanying stage is Mementos, and features music from Persona 5 as well as Persona 4, Persona 3, and the original Revelations: Persona. Mementos comes as a set with Joker as part of Challenger Pack 1. Mementos has one main platform with a slant in the middle similar to Meta Crystal, with one platform over the center and another over the left side. Trains periodically appear in the background, the set below the stage being able to damage fighters. Occasionally, a large triangle-shaped wall appears at the top or on the sides of the stage. The trains and the walls will never appear at the same time.If a song from Persona 3 or Persona 4 is playing during a match, the color scheme of Mementos will change from red to blue or yellow respectively, the respective primary colors for each game. The decoration in the background also changes to either a moon or the streaks found in Persona 4's UI. If Joker wins a match with the alternate music, the victory pose screen and subsequent music change accordingly to the ones found in the home series.

I'm just saying it could simplify the page if we mashed everything into one. Pratikmii03 (talk) 08:35, July 9, 2020 (EDT)

Release date for Steve (but also previous releases)

The article states that the release date will be October 13th, but this is the release date in Americas. In the rest of the world it'll be October 14th. The release will likely be specifically at 2020-10-14 00:00 UTC according to people I've talked to, and calculating the release window: as done in this Tweet, a midnight UTC release seems to be very likely. Liggliluff (talk) 19:40, October 5, 2020 (EDT)

The wiki does default to American time for dates unless it involves a specific localized event (for example, a tournament). Though I agree something should be probably done when it comes to the UTC times. ~ Serena Strawberry (talk) 19:49, October 5, 2020 (EDT)
