So is the Donkey Kong in the SSB games the one from the original Donkey King(the one named Cranky Kong) or the one from DK's own games?

That's the Donkey Kong from his own games, AKA Donkey Kong Jr. --Smash-jay (talk) 13:52, May 23, 2010 (UTC)

ArtworkEdit

Should we update it to the more recent version? JC's old. --HavocReaper'48 22:51, 2 November 2010 (EDT)

I had a long debate with Blue Ninjakoopa on this one. His argument is that we should use the art from the character's last major game to precede the character's most recent appearance in Smash. I would say that we should use the more recent version, however. Miles (talk) 23:05, 2 November 2010 (EDT)

Console of originEdit

According to Donkey Kong Country, Cranky Kong is the original DK in the arcade. Donkey Kong in Smash Bros is modeled after Donkey Kong in DKC seeing as he can ground pound, who is Cranky Kong's (original DK) son, meaning the console of origin for Donkey Kong (current Donkey Kong) is the SNES? havoC-- 11:51, 28 December 2010 (EST)

I think we have to say arcade for origin, since it's the origin of the character, not the origin of the incarnation of the character. Like how only OoT, WW, and TP versions of the Zelda crew appear in Smash Bros. (as playable), yet their origins are stated as NES. Toomai Glittershine   The Metroid 15:10, 28 December 2010 (EST)

Change content to what is in the True Donkey Kong pageEdit

I made that page as a sample of what I think the Donkey Kong page should look like and am making this proposal for the other pages contents to be moved here and then the other page to be deleted. See the edit summary of the other page for details.

Smash pretty much conflates the "original" Donkey Kong (DKC Cranky) with the "modern" Donkey Kong (DKC onwards), and uses them interchangeably. We cover them on the same page just as our NIWA affiliates Mario Wiki and DK Wiki do. Smash does the same kind of thing with other characters, like equating NES/Wii Little Mac and the wireframe challenger from the arcade Punch-Out. There's no basis for removing content the way you're suggesting (and furthermore, please don't draft articles in the mainspace). Miles (talk) 10:45, 19 August 2015 (EDT)
How do you create non-mainspace user pages? You have a sandbox page and page listing all the source games. What do you do to get those? Besides helping me, this would also help this user in the future by giving him a place to work on stuff without it "clogging" the mainspace. John   PK SMAAAASH!! 10:58, 19 August 2015 (EDT)
Make it with a slash. For example, a subpage for you would be named "User:John3637881/(insert page name here)". It's that simple.  Aidan, Master of Speed and Aura  11:16, 19 August 2015 (EDT)

The DK DabEdit

I'm not sure how Donkey Kong's dab in Mario Kart is relevant to this wiki. --Meester Tweester (talk) 23:49, September 25, 2019 (EDT)

Why was it even put there in the first place? SupαToαd64, the Best   23:55, September 25, 2019 (EDT)
