Talk:Dash-canceling

Does dash canceling refer strictly to ending the dash with a crouch, or any instance when the dash is canceled? I probably should've asked this before I decided to edit the page. --[[SSRider]] [[Wanna Chat?]] 05:39, April 24, 2010 (UTC)

Where can I put new info?Edit

I've noticed a lot of little things in Smash 64 involving initial dash animations/dash-dancing (most notably Captain Falcon's, who I swear has his own minor teleport variation, though I could be wrong) that I haven't seen posted or mentioned anywhere. I feel several (for example: pivoting as soon as a dash is initiated to line up short-hopped back aerials, which open significant approach options) could be considered genuine techniques, though I don't know what I'd call them or where to put them, if they don't exist already... Anyone have some advice (or links to already existing potential matches/articles i could improve on)? Oasidu (talk) 14:24, 23 October 2013 (EDT)

You could make a new section on the page with information about the pivoting you mentioned. Maybe you could also expand this with the Falcon techniques you mentioned. Scr7 (talk · contribs) 14:32, 23 October 2013 (EDT)
Will do (that is exactly what I meant). Though regarding the Teleport, Falcon's jump out of a dash dance will occasionally send him, after a small jolt in one direction, (with normal forward jump animation and airspeed) traveling backwards. I have been able to perform this a lot, but randomly, not on purpose. Due to the fast nature of dash dancing, I have not determined what causes this, nor do I have the means, sadly. Further research would be greatly appreciated on the matter, though it is perhaps a bit trivial. Thanks either way. Cheers mate Oasidu (talk) 14:44, 23 October 2013 (EDT)
Considering your recent moveset page overhauls, you may wish to link my additions to their respective pages (I would if I remembered how, but my Wii limits my editorial skills anyway). Oasidu (talk) 15:14, 23 October 2013 (EDT)

Dash-cancel vs. run-cancel / Move to run-cancelEdit

The second part of the dash, during which turning around quickly is no longer possible, is called a run. Crouching in Melee is only possible from run, not from dash. Thus, I believe that dash-cancel should be moved to run-cancel because it’s a more accurate term. Both the dash-cancel and run-cancel terms are used by the competitive community, but run-cancel is increasing in usage relatively. Kadano talk 10:09, 30 November 2014 (EST)
