I added some images but placing them appears to be quite difficult. Hopefully someone better at editing than me will be able to improve this page's presentation. Apologies for the mess! --Plague von Karma (talk) 09:05, 1 March 2019 (EST)

All these Crownerang articles are ridiculous, merge them togetherEdit

Currently we have six individual articles for various minor Crownerang techniques:

Yes it's a cool move but this is just excessive, there's really no reason for every little individual neat trick you can do with each move to have an article separate from the move's main page, and it makes the information more scattered too, making it harder for readers to follow. If people think the main page would get too bloated by having all the information on those pages here, it would be better to create a Crownerang/Techniques subpage that covers each of them, rather scattering them into several minor individual articles. Yes, please merge these: We don't have individual pages listing every technique you can perform with shine, why is this any different? The main page might get bloated so I would also support having a Crownerang/Techniques page, just whichever gets the job done.   Omegα Toαd, the Toαd Wαrrior. (BUP) 17:56, March 8, 2021 (EST)
I mentioned in Discord that Monado Arts had all of its minor techniques on one page, but apparently I was wrong, so I'd like to give those a shoutout here as well. Aidan, the Rurouni 17:55, March 8, 2021 (EST)
Oh damn Monado is even worse about it, yeah those too should get merged into the move article or a techniques subpage, maybe one for Smash 4 and one for Ult. Omega Tyrant   18:02, March 8, 2021 (EST)
I strongly disagree with merging Crown sliding and Crown bouncing into Crownerang, as they not only have variants but are actively used in high-level play, but players like Onua, InfernoKong, Raphy and even Ben Gold have used them with success. In fact, I don't think the Crown bouncing page even does the technique justice, it's not very well-written and there are some nuances that have not been covered, which is on me. These two pages will only get longer as time goes on and they'll absolutely bloat any page they're merged into. However, Crown canceling and Crown landing should definitely be on the main page and I don't see why they were split in the first place. To my knowledge, Eknoa split Crownerang in August 2019 and I don't remember there being much of a discussion. It appears that the split was done quite poorly, considering a subsection of Crown landing ended up becoming its own page. Speaking of that, I don't know why the Crownless Bounce and "crown pickup variant" pages exist. They seem to have been made by mistake if anything at all, both are covered on the other pages; Crown bouncing and Crown landing, respectively.
All in all, you should only really have bouncing/sliding on their own pages, as they are legitimately major techniques that have value, while the others are minor side effects of Crown's bizarre properties that make more sense to be on the main page. Overall, keep bouncing/sliding, merge landing/canceling, delete crownless/pickup. This should solve the problem. Alternatively, it seems fair to have a Crownerang/Techniques page, but again, Crown bouncing and Crown sliding are extremely convoluted and would end up bloating this hypothetical page more than they should. -- Plague von Karma  18:07, March 8, 2021 (EST)
I'm not convinced a dedicated techniques subpage would become too much with Crown Bouncing and Sliding; currently both articles are at 6K in size, triple both of them to each even being bigger than our Waveshine article (which currently is about 14K), and the techniques subpage still wouldn't be close to being excessively large yet. If you could expand/rewrite one of those articles to how you think they should look in a near-completed form, that would help in determining how much meat there really is to cover and better visualize how the information would look in an individual article vs. in the subpage. In that case, I have no qualms with a merge into a techniques page, I doubt either page would grow to that degree. - Plague von Karma  18:51, March 8, 2021 (EST)
