Move to "Custom Move Sets"Edit

Oppose. It's more commonly spelt "moveset" and not "move set", the way they present it it doesn't look like an official name to me, and it just doesn't make sense as a page name. Toomai Glittershine   The Frivolous 17:58, 15 May 2014 (EDT)

Neutral. Eh, Sakurai only barely revealed anything about this during the Direct. Either name is fine for now; we'll probably hear more about this at E3, so it's most likely only a month delay. Miles (talk) 19:03, 15 May 2014 (EDT)

Neutral. We should probably remove the tag until Smash4 comes out. Then we could move it to whatever it's called in-game.75.85.64.155 19:18, 15 May 2014 (EDT)

Oppose: This is a much simpler name. Plus it's kinda pointless. Only move it if it's confirmed as something besides this. Nutta Butta (talk) 19:31, 15 May 2014 (EDT)

Agree The Japanese name looks more like an official one, and I figure that the English one probably is if the Japanese one is. In addition, doesnt it make sense to use a name used by an official source when no official name has been confirmed nor any unofficial name become so commonly used that it is essentially standard? I know SW:OFFICIAL, but it's not like Custom Move Sets is an "unknown term", or much different from Moveset Customization. FirstaLasto 19:44, 15 May 2014 (EDT)

I don't understand, do you want to move it there because you want the page title to be a translation of the official Japanese term... which it already is? - Ceci n’est pas un Smiddle. 14:03, 17 May 2014 (EDT)
What? The original Japanese refers specifically to special moves. Neither the current or suggested page title match that, so I don't know what you're talking about. FirstaLasto 15:46, 17 May 2014 (EDT)

Agree per FirstaLasto Laikue (talk) 10:01, 16 May 2014 (EDT)

Emphatically Disagree. I mean, Sakurai said it in the Direct, but it's not official... anything can change. Also, SmashWiki is not official. Generally, people will refer to it as... well, either/or (I'd say Moveset Customization is the Noun, though.. And, yeah, Move Set looks... messy, to say the least. ScoreCounter 13:01, 17 May 2014 (EDT)

Oppose I prefer the title the way it is now. Besides, "move sets" looks awkward, to be honest. Berrenta (talk) 13:10, 17 May 2014 (EDT)

Oppose "Move Set" is inconsistent, and the majority of pages like this refer to the subject in a similar way to this one. Scr7 (talk · contribs) 14:05, 17 May 2014 (EDT)

I think it's pretty clear what most of us want, so let's just end this.Qwerty the amazing   22:05, 17 May 2014 (EDT)

Move to "Character customization"Edit

It's been confirmed that there's more than just moveset customization, so I believe a move is appropriate. Red (talk)   15:32, 11 June 2014 (EDT)

I just went through with it, as it's a more accurate title. Red (talk)   15:40, 11 June 2014 (EDT)

A bit on Pit and DKEdit

DK was seen at E3 in the Treehouse to also have an alternate up-b move. Also, it has not been confirmed that Pit's arrows are slower with more control. How do we know that it doesn't automatically go in loop-da-loops? Speculation is not allowed on Smash Wiki. 72.105.73.188 15:32, 13 July 2014 (EDT)

The one you mentioned for Pit is already listed, as it was displayed in the April 8 Smash Direct. For DK, that needs investigation. Berrenta (talk) 15:35, 13 July 2014 (EDT)
Um, he was referring to the fact that the information we have wasn't necessarily confirmed on Pit. I don't know about that, I have very little info on it. Nutta Butta (talk) 15:40, 13 July 2014 (EDT)
I'm not a "he." I'm actually a she. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.141.44.196 (talkcontribs) 08:37, July 14, 2014 (CDT)
Oh. Sorry. Also, remember to sign with ~~~~ Nutta Butta (talk) 09:42, 14 July 2014 (EDT)
She does have a point though. We shouldn't be speculative and say it's this when it might be that. Notice I say might. The thing is we aren't sure yet, and thus, we shouldn't jump to conclusions about this and keep it light. Stan the Man (talk) 10:52, 14 July 2014 (EDT)

Alright, I made a little change. Stan the Man (talk) 10:54, 14 July 2014 (EDT)

List of special move variantsEdit

Is this needed? I think we should just have the information on the special move pages themselves. - Ceci n’est pas un Smiddle. 11:53, 14 July 2014 (EDT)

We probably should move the information to those pages at a later point. Ultimately, what should end up on this page is an explanation of customization plus a table of special move variant names, with the detail on those variants on appropriate pages. This isn't urgent, though, and could easily wait for the Japanese release. Miles (talk) 11:55, 14 July 2014 (EDT)
Some mention of it should be here. The general info shouldn't. Nutta Butta (talk) 11:56, 14 July 2014 (EDT)

Amiibo FiguresEdit

I just watched the amiibo trailer to double-check, and nowhere did Bill Trinen say that amiibo figures would be used to transfer customized characters between games, just that the amiibo can be customized themselves. He also doesn't even say that amiibo will even be compatible with the 3DS version, although it is implied. Furthermore, the 3DS peripheral doesn't come out until next year, long after amiibo and both versions of Smash 4 come out, meaning players would have to wait until next year to be able to transfer customizations if they so desired. I think until further information in given, we should wait to say how this function works. ScizorSteelix (talk) 11:08, 17 July 2014 (EDT)

This is not an argument against amiibo being used for this function; it is an observation that there are probably more ways to do it. ScizorSteelix (talk) 14:53, 17 July 2014 (EDT)

Homing MissileEdit

When at SDCC, I was playing the 3DS demo of Smash run, and I saw a custom move for Luigi, side special it said, called homing missile. I can't prove it, but I promise you I'm telling the truth. 75.141.44.196 14:28, 5 August 2014 (EDT)

I really wish you could prove it, because we need a source. SmashWiki's just like that. Qwerty (talk) 14:36, 5 August 2014 (EDT)
Yeah, very sorry, but my phone's battery was dead, so I couldn't take photo evidence... 75.141.44.196 14:43, 5 August 2014 (EDT)
I saw it too! It came with a Peach special, but I don't remember what it was... 72.105.6.36 09:17, 9 August 2014 (EDT)

Robin's Special MovesEdit

Here is proof for all the special moves I have found for Robin--all of them but his second side special are here. Akvo (talk) 10:28, 15 September 2014 (EDT)

OrganizationEdit

The way this article is put together is a bit of a hodgepodge. Locating a specific special move for a specific fighter is an incredible hassle, and the manner in which the table is organized is to blame. I believe that abandoning the table and using the equal sign headlines would make it much easier to find information. I can reorganize it in this manner, I just would like to know if anyone opposes this. Toymakers Creation (talk) 14:51, 16 September 2014 (EDT)

I think abandoning the list on this page altogether is the best solution. Then we don't have duplicate info on both this page and the special move pages. Similarly, we'd make a "Powers" page that has the list of powers, an "Equipment" page that has the list of equipment, and so on. Toomai Glittershine   The Jiggy 14:58, 16 September 2014 (EDT)
I could begin putting the known customization options onto the specific Special Moves pages, under a "Customization" headline. Once the information has been put into its proper place, then the list can be scrapped, yes? Toymakers Creation (talk) 15:04, 16 September 2014 (EDT)
That kind of idea was the plan, yes. Toomai Glittershine   The Spectrum 15:06, 16 September 2014 (EDT)
Well, I know what I'm gonna do today. Toymakers Creation (talk) 15:11, 16 September 2014 (EDT)
The problem with an "equipment" page is that equipment is largely randomly generated. We'd be better off listing possible passive effects, equipment classes (shoes, swords, gyroids, pokemon-only items), and their names. Akvo (talk) 03:16, 17 September 2014 (EDT)
That would be what we do; list the possible equipment names, along with maybe the possible range of their effects. Toomai Glittershine   El Pollo 09:39, 17 September 2014 (EDT)

Inaccurate info?Edit

There's conflicting information with some other pages. Specifically, I've run into a problem where Peach (SSB4) states that custom moves do different things than what's listed here, such as saying that Vegetable can be customized into Boomerang Veggie, while this page says it can be customized into Light Veggie. Roarmoocowz (talk) 22:54, 23 September 2014 (EDT)

OutfitsEdit

By any chance can we move the outfits to a new section. The least we should do is add images above each name in a gallery. --Ma321 (talk) 8:14, 24 September 2014 (EDT)

Agreed. It would look a lot neater that way. Berrenta (talk) 21:33, 24 September 2014 (EDT)
They should be a page on their own (probably at "Mii outfits" or whatever the game calls them), so don't put too much effort into making it look good on this page. Toomai Glittershine   Da Bomb 22:34, 24 September 2014 (EDT)
That could work, too. Berrenta (talk) 09:33, 25 September 2014 (EDT)
They have a section in the Alternate costumes page. There should probably just be a link to that. b2jammer (talk) 22:28, 19 May 2015 (EDT)

Removing the unknown columnEdit

Besides the Hammer Bash, it's unessessary and that could easily be noted in the trivia section. Frankly I'm scared of messing the table mark-up so I daren't touch it. Guybrush20X6 (talk) 07:11, 25 September 2014 (EDT)

Since Hammer Bash is literally the only thing in that column, I think that would be a better idea. Berrenta (talk) 09:33, 25 September 2014 (EDT)

Custom special move deletionEdit

I don't believe they should be deleted. I believe we should have a separate page which lists the custom special moves and uses their in-game descriptions and image seen in the description. I also believe that the default special moves should be listed on the page, too, but that's not necessary. In other words, I would like a page similar to the trophy pages, except with custom special moves. PikaSamus (talk)   10:32, 14 October 2014 (EDT)

How is that useful? Toomai Glittershine   The Wacko 10:43, 14 October 2014 (EDT)
The reason that I suggested this is because we have lists of special moves when you can just find the pages on the special moves themselves. PikaSamus (talk)   10:45, 14 October 2014 (EDT)
That's kind of different though, because it's just a list of links, and no information is duplicated. We can't do the same for a "list of custom moves" page because most of them don't have their own pages, and so would either be just a list of names (not really helpful) or a list of names and descriptions (duplicated information). Toomai Glittershine   The Labbie 10:52, 14 October 2014 (EDT)
For some odd reason, I thought that the special move pages had descriptions. I must have been thinking about smash/tilt/etc. pages. Sorry about that. PikaSamus (talk)   11:05, 14 October 2014 (EDT)

Naming differences between NA and PAL versions.Edit

If all the custom move names displayed on the page now are correct, there are some differences in the PAL version names. I'll list them below since I can't think of a good way to include them on the list and the page seems to be undergoing some sort of change anyway. I hope someone makes use of this. The PAL names are on the right side of the arrow:

Dr. Mario: Ol' One- Two -> The Ol' One-Two

Soaring Tornado -> Launching Tornado

Bowser: Turbulent Bomb -> Turbulence Bomb

Wario: Inhaling Chomp -> Inhale and Chomp

Link: Quickfire Bow -> Quick-Fire Bow

Zero-Suit Samus: Electromagnetic Net -> Spreading Shot

King Dedede: Armored Jet Hammer -> Armoured Jet Hammer

Jigglypuff: Wakie Wakie -> Wakey-Wakey

Greninja: Stagnant Shuriken -> Still Water Shuriken

Ness: PSI Vacuum -> PSI Vortex

Ike: Paralyzing Counter -> Paralysing Counter

Mr. Game & Watch: Short-Order Chef -> Fast-Food Chef

EVO custom specialsEdit

So, since EVO plans to make use of custom specials, and according to http://smashboards.com/threads/customs-evo-and-making-sets.392449/, they are planning on using a SmashBoards project determining the best custom specials for each character. Should we make mention of this somewhere and the sets the project lists? Sorry if this is the wrong talk page, I didn't know the best place to put it. 72.15.80.185 19:28, 23 February 2015 (EST)

It's not a bad idea, but I would say a) this isn't the page for it to be on and b) we should wait for a standardized set of customs to come out. At that point, and only at that point, should we make a page like "Standard Custom Movesets" or something like that to document it. The only other place I can imagine it being listed is as a section of the eventual "Tournament legal (SSB4)" page, which doesn't exist yet but probably should be made soon once there's a more consistent ruleset. Miles (talk) 19:46, 23 February 2015 (EST)
I can understand how that would be better suited for another page, but the project actually did post a list of custom moves, just not the final list for EVO. Even though it's not the one that will be used there, should we put it on one of the new pages you suggested? 72.15.80.185 19:51, 23 February 2015 (EST)
Unless we start seeing nationals using those sets, not yet. Miles (talk) 21:21, 23 February 2015 (EST)
Well, the custom sets for EVO are up. http://smashboards.com/threads/official-custom-moveset-project-summer-2015-edition-evo-sets.395721/ 72.15.80.185 21:05, 22 March 2015 (EDT)

Custom Moves ListEdit

It seems that there was once a list of all custom moves but it was inexplicably removed. I was looking for one such list myself and upon finding that it existed before and it was removed, why? Can it come back, and if so, could i make a new one? I'm not really sure why this would be removed because it'd be a pretty convenient list - Qyzxf (talk) 14:36, July 7, 2020 (EDT)
