Trivia

  • During the voting process for Smash Summit 11, Yingling spearheaded a number of Twitter memes in the process of securing the most votes for a vote-in Smash Summit player of all time.
    • Supporters of his campaign on Twitter changed their profile names to "I am Nicholas Yingling" (or a variant thereof) and profile pictures to that of Yingling's (featuring a smug smiling fish from Spongebob).[1] [2]
    • A TikTok clip of him landing a basketball shot with the caption "You just got ratio'd by Air Yingling" was widely used to accrue likes and draw attention to his campaign efforts, often with the intention of receiving more likes than the tweets the clip was used to respond to.[3]
      • Spin-offs of the "Air Yingling" meme also sprung up in the process, including "Air Mikey"[4] and "Air Yingling just got grounded"[5].
