Spud is a Marth player from New Zealand who is currently living in Perth Australia. He is ranked 1st in the New Zealand Melee Power Rankings and 47th on the 2018 MPGR. His breakout performance was at BAM7 where he beat several of Australia's top players and upset Alex19 in a close 3-2 set to place 7th overall. He started playing Smash in 2014.
He made his US debut at The Big House 6. In round 2 pools he lost to 4% and Ryan_K to finish at 97th place.
At Don't Park on the Grass he cruised through round 1 pools without dropping a game notably beating Rudolph in winners final of that pool. In round 2 he lost to Hungrybox 0-2, then beat Iceman 3-1 to make bracket. He then beat Mike Haze 3-1, before losing to The Moon 1-3 to finish at 17th place.
At another Pacific Northwest event, Bridgetown Hyper Blitz, he took first in singles, defeating several top 50 players, starting with n0ne, then Moky, then double eliminated Professor Pro 3-2 and 3-0 in Winners Finals and Grand Finals respectively. He also got second in doubles with MilkMan, defeating the team of n0ne and Moky in winners, but then losing the grands finals sets 0-3 and 2-3. A week later at Don't Park on the Grass 2018, Spud was on similar form, defeating Kalamazhu 3-0 to reach top 32 winners side, and then defeating SFAT 3-0 and Hax 3-1 to reach winners side top 8, where he lost 1-3 to S2J and 0-3 to Captain Faceroll.
Recently, he also defeated SFAT at Phantom 2019, a tournament where he placed 2nd.
