PlatinumGames Inc. (プラチナゲームズ株式会社, Purachina Gēmuzu Kabushiki Gaisha) is a Japanese video game developer. The studio was formed from the remnants of Clover Studio, a Capcom development studio which developed critically acclaimed but financially unsuccessful games such as the Viewtiful Joe series and Okami. They have developed a range of action titles for other publishers such as Bayonetta for Sega, Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance for Konami, NieR: Automata for Square Enix, and several titles for Nintendo: The Wonderful 101, Bayonetta 2 and Bayonetta 3, Star Fox Zero, and Astral Chain.

In Super Smash Bros. 4

In the final Super Smash Bros. video presentation, it was announced that Bayonetta would be a playable character, bringing in a stage based on the iconic opening scene from the first Bayonetta game, several music tracks from both Bayonetta games, and several trophies along with her.

Prior to this, however, The Wonderful 101 saw two music tracks - ST01: Roll Out, Wonderful 100! and Jergingha - Planet Destruction Form, on Pilotwings and Mario Galaxy, respectively - and trophies of each Wonder One from the game in the base version of Super Smash Bros. for Wii U.

In Super Smash Bros. Ultimate

Bayonetta returns as a playable character, with Umbra Clock Tower and the music on the stage returning as well. Rodin also appears as an Assist Trophy. Several spirits from the Bayonetta series appear as well.

Star Fox series content in Ultimate draws largely from Star Fox Zero, including directly ported music, Spirit artwork, and updated designs for Star Fox series characters and stages that take inspiration from this game.

ST01: Roll Out, Wonderful 100! and Jergingha - Planet Destruction Form return from The Wonderful 101 as well, along with Wonder-Red and Wonder-Blue appearing as Spirits. As part of a Spirit Board event, four additional Spirits from the Nintendo Switch title Astral Chain debut in Ultimate.

Raiden's spirit uses his design from Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance. Additionally, Gray Fox's spirit artwork uses artwork from DLC from the aforementioned game.

Additionally, in-house composer Hiroshi Yamaguchi was brought in to do the Map Page/Bonus Level (Remix) arrangement and the former composer of PlatinumGames, Masami Ueda, arranged Dance of Gold, Theme of Solid Snake, and Banquet of Nature - SAMURAI SHODOWN.
