Proposal

To shorten the text to:

Reverted [[User:$2|$2]]:

A link to the talk can be added in if we feel we need it, but I personally don't think we do. For people who use monaco where the edit-bar is such terrifail and cuts off the edit summary box, the current revert message is freaking huge. It's a pain in the ass to leave a comment when reverting, and the links to contribs/talk/whatever are only a click away anyway. --Shadowcrest 00:08, 1 March 2009 (UTC)

The last is a faux pas of web design: why 1 click when we can do 0? The next before it is fixed whenever we upgrade to version 1.14 of MediaWiki. As for the terrifail, not only fixed in 1.14, but also consider this: perhaps you shouldn't be undoing if you need to leave an explanation, or, if you really think you need to leave an explanation, then ctrl + a, delete, should solve your problem. --Sky (t · c · w) 01:05, 11 March 2009 (UTC)

Should it link to the undid user's contribs rather than the talk page?

In my opinion, it would work better with IPs and user talk-less users. Red (talk) Red 14:07, 7 May 2014 (EDT), fixed 14:08, 7 May 2014 (EDT)

That would make it more consistent with the rollback message. It would also however put a dent into the max size of any appended edit summaries (about 30-40 letters, plus twice username length). Let's see what other people think. Toomai Glittershine ??? The Keymaster 15:15, 7 May 2014 (EDT)
