  • The Sudden Damage rule references Tabuu's Off Waves attack where Tabuu appears in the background, opens his wings, and unleashes three red energy waves which can seriously damage the player, which can also lead to a possible OHKO.

  • Advent Children Cloud's Fusion Sword can split apart, which consists one large blade and numerous smaller blades, similar to Master Edges' sword forms.
  • The stage and music track represent the Final Destination stage in Super Smash Bros. 4, which features Master Edges' boss battle on Class Mode's higher difficulties.
  • The battle conditions reference how Master Edges can float weightlessly and attack the player using quick and powerful slash attacks.

  • The larger-than-normal green R.O.B. represents the Ancient Minister, a R.O.B disguised in a large, green cloak, while the R.O.B. Team represents the R.O.B. Squad, an army of R.O.B.s led by the Ancient Minister in The Subspace Emissary.
  • The stage represents the Halberd, which the Subspace Army commandeers prior to the beginning of The Subspace Emissary.
  • The R.O.B. Team starting off with a Bomber, the Screen Flip hazard, and battle conditions reference the R.O.B. Squad's reluctant role in The Subspace Army by wielding and detonating the Subspace Bombs, which sucks everything in their radius and into Subspace, leaving the Ancient Minister the only R.O.B. to not be destroyed by the explosions.

Other trivia:
  • This spirit's Neutral type references the Ancient Minister's role as an unwilling antagonist in The Subspace Emissary, who later joins the heroes to stop the Subspace Army.

  • The Mii Fighters using their Super Smash Bros. Ultimate art may be because they are represented by the Smash symbol rather than the Mii symbol.
  • The spirit artworks for Master Giant and Master Beast were previously unused images found on the Super Smash Bros. for Wii U disc.
  • The Galeem and Dharkon spirits have the highest power level in the game, both at their base and at Level 99.
