NTSC Round little Kirby lives on the peaceful Planet Popstar, in Dream Land. He can inhale things with his big mouth, either copying their abilities or spitting them out again. In Smash Bros., Kirby can inhale opponents and copy their standard specials. He gets launched easily but recovers well.

PAL A roly-poly little fella from Dream Land on Planet Popstar. He can inhale pretty much anyone or anything with that big gob of his, then spit them out or copy their abilities. He can copy opponents' standard specials in this game, too! His light weight means he gets launched easily, but with a series of mid-air jumps, recovering's not too tricky.

Kirby (Alt.) Fighter KirbyAltTrophy3DS.png KirbyAltTrophyWiiU.png

NTSC Holding the special button and left or right will charge up Kirby's Hammer Flip attack. Charging too long hurts Kirby! The hammer strikes twice in the air, but landing the single blow on the ground is more powerful. Kirby's up special Final Cutter slices up and down, firing a shock wave upon landing.

PAL Charge up Kirby's Hammer side special to unleash Hammer Flip, a move with serious launch power. Charge it too much, though, and you'll get hurt! The move hits twice in mid-air, but does more damage on the ground. Final Cutter slices up and down before sending out an energy wave. Move Kirby mid-jump to change where he lands.

Meta Knight Fighter MetaKnightTrophy3DS.png MetaKnightTrophyWiiU.png

NTSC Kirby's mysterious rival, this masked swordsman appears in several Kirby games. His cape transforms into wings to grant him flight. In Smash Bros., his quick sword skills and aerial agility set him apart. He can jump up to five times in a row, and he has a special move to soar higher.

PAL A mysterious masked swordsman from the Kirby series. His cape can turn into wings, which gives him the ability to fly. His swift swordplay and ability to stay in the air give him an edge in this game. He can combine five mid-air jumps with a special move to make recovering a cinch. If you use him, try to keep battle airborne!

Meta Knight (Alt.) Fighter MetaKnightAltTrophy3DS.png MetaKnightAltTrophyWiiU.png

NTSC Meta Knight's Dimensional Cape lets you teleport, changing where you'll reappear with directional inputs and attacking by holding the button! His Mach Tornado special can draw in and attack multiple opponents. Rise by pressing the button repeatedly, and press left or right to move.

PAL Meta Knight's Dimensional Cape lets you teleport. After vanishing, you can move to reappear somewhere else. You can also keep holding the button to turn it into an attack! His Mach Tornado special can mix up multiple opponents in the fray. Press the button repeatedly to rise up, and move left and right to create extra havoc.

King Dedede Fighter KingDededeTrophy3DS.png KingDededeTrophyWiiU.png

NTSC He calls himself the King of Dream Land, but he doesn't have a lot of interest in ruling. He really loves to eat, so it's no surprise he's a heavyweight fighter. Despite his size and low speed, he can easily recover with his four jumps. His Jet Hammer will leave a mark on everyone he meets.

PAL Being a self-proclaimed king, Dedede clearly doesn't care too much about the whole "politics" things. He's just a bit greedy. In this game, his weight and hefty hammer make him slow, but he can still jump four times in mid-air anyway, making it easy for him to get back to the stage. Fully charge his Jet Hammer for ultimate destruction.

King Dedede (Alt.) Fighter KingDededeAltTrophy3DS.png KingDededeAltTrophyWiiU.png

NTSC For the Gordo Throw side special, King Dedede sends a Gordo bouncing with a hammer strike. It bounces off walls—or sometimes gets stuck in them. After a while it'll disappear. If an enemy hits one, it'll bounce back toward you. Use the special again to whack it back at them!

PAL For the Gordo Throw side special, King Dedede hits a Gordo with his hammer, sending it bouncing along the stage. It'll bounce off walls, or sometimes get stuck in them. Then, after a while, it'll disappear. If an enemy hits the Gordo with an attack, it'll fly back towards you. Use the special again to whack it back at them!

Game Boy: Kirby's Dream Land (08/1992)
3DS: Kirby: Triple Deluxe (05/2014)

Dragoon Item DragoonTrophy3DS.png DragoonTrophyWiiU.png

NTSC Collect parts A, B, and C to assemble the legendary Air Ride machine known as the Dragoon. Take careful aim, and then ride it toward your target. A hit will send enemies flying out of the battle. Taking damage before you've collected all the parts can knock them from your grasp, however.

PAL Collect parts A, B and C to assemble the legendary Air Ride machine Dragoon, which you can use to fly into an opponent. Aim well and they'll be long gone. If you're the one being aimed at, though, get out of the way, stat! By the way, if another player has one of the parts, attack them to steal it!

GameCube: Kirby Air Ride (02/2004)

Maxim Tomato Item MaximTomatoTrophy3DS.png MaximTomatoTrophyWiiU.png

NTSC A tomato marked with a large, black M. This is Kirby's favorite snack, and in the past it has fully restored Kirby's health. The ones that show up in Smash Bros. aren't from the same crop, though, and only heal 50 points of damage. That'll still help you in a fight—unless an enemy eats it first.

PAL A big, juicy tomato with the letter M on it. In the Kirby series, it's Kirby's favourite treat, and it heals damage completely. Sadly, in this game, it only takes 50 off your damage, but it's still a hot item among badly hurt players...and players who just want to stop others from getting it!

SNES: Kirby Super Star (08/1996)

32. The Beginning of Kirby
Warp Star Item WarpStarTrophy3DS.png WarpStarTrophyWiiU.png

NTSC A magical transportation device that Kirby has used in the past to get around. Jumping on the Warp Star will send the character high into the sky and then crashing back down to the battlefield. Anyone caught in the path or landing spot will be sent flying, and the rider can aim a bit to the left or right in the air.

PAL In the Kirby games, Warp Stars carry Kirby from one spot in a stage to another. In this game, pick it up to shoot high into the air and then slam back down to bowl over your opponents. You can control where you land by shifting left or right while in the air, but it takes some practice!

Game Boy: Kirby's Dream Land (08/1992)
SNES: Kirby Super Star (08/1996)

32. The Beginning of Kirby
Superspicy Curry Item SuperspicyCurryTrophy3DS.png SuperspicyCurryTrophyWiiU.png

NTSC Hope you're a fan of spicy food, because this curry will set your mouth on fire! I'm not kidding—whoever eats this will actually shoot balls of fire from his or her mouth, hurting those who get too close. Water doesn't help with spiciness, so this works underwater too! Too bad there's no milk weapon...

PAL You think you know spicy curries? Think again! One taste of this one and your mouth will literally be on fire. Not even diving into water will help! Your opponents might laugh, but they'll soon stop when you start breathing fire in their direction, now won't they?

Game Boy: Kirby's Dream Land (08/1992)

32. The Beginning of Kirby
Star Rod Item StarRodTrophy3DS.png StarRodTrophyWiiU.png

NTSC Swung normally, this item will deal a regular physical attack. But if you charge up the blow, it becomes a magic wand that launches stars! The Star Rod is the source of power for the Fountain of Dreams in Kirby's Adventure. Using the rod, Kirby was able to defeat Nightmare.

PAL Attack normally and you may as well just be swinging any old stick around, but if you deliver a hefty blow with it, this magic wand will launch a shooting star! The Star Rod powers the Fountain of Dreams, and Kirby once used it to defeat the evil Nightmare when he appeared from the fountain in Kirby's Adventure.

34. Kirby's Adventure
Nightmare (Kirby) Assist Trophy NightmareTrophy3DS.png NightmareTrophyWiiU.png

NTSC This ball of nightmares came from the Fountain of Dreams, taking nightmares to all of Dream Land. King Dedede sealed it away by shattering the Star Rod, but it was revived when the Star Rod was restored by Kirby. In Smash Bros., it hides the stage and the fighters in pure darkness.

PAL This terrible being came from the Fountain of Dreams, bringing bad dreams to all of Dream Land. King Dedede sealed him away by shattering the Star Rod, but when Kirby restored it, Nightmare was able to come back. In this game, he shrouds the stage in darkness, making it impossible for the fighters to see.

34. Kirby's Adventure
Knuckle Joe Assist Trophy KnuckleJoeTrophy3DS.png KnuckleJoeTrophyWiiU.png

NTSC A martial-arts master, Knuckle Joe can be inhaled by Kirby and his Fighter ability copied. If you summon him, he'll leap toward the enemy nearest you and unleash his powerful Vulcan Jab attack. He'll then finish off his target with a devastating Smash Punch or Rising Break.

PAL When Kirby copies this expert in all martial arts, he becomes a pro at hand-to-hand combat. Release Knuckle Joe in this game, and he'll jump towards the enemy nearest to you and unleash his mighty Vulcan Jab, then finish them off with a devastating Smash Punch or Rising Break!

SNES: Kirby Super Star (08/1996)

Tac Enemy TacTrophy3DS.png TacTrophyWiiU.png

NTSC Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS This zippy character appears in the Kirby series. In Smash Bros., he'll appear in Smash Run to try to steal your stat boosts from you. How much he steals depends on how much you've improved your stats. If you can catch him, you can get back whatever he stole. Don't give up!

PAL Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS This speedy little guy appears in the Kirby series. In this game, he'll speed up to you, steal your stat boosts, then flee. How much he'll steal depends on your stats. He's hard to catch, but if you take him out, you can get your stat boosts back, so you'd better chase after him!
Super Smash Bros. for Wii U This speedy little guy is from the Kirby series. In those games, he steals the ability Kirby's in the middle of using and bolts. If you want it back, you have to chase him down and take it. In Smash Tour, Tacs appear randomly on the board, and you'll be rewarded with multiple stat boosts if you're quick enough to catch one!

3DS Version

Name Picture Description
Bronto Burt Enemy BrontoBurtTrophy3DS.png

NTSC These pink, winged enemies come from the Kirby series. In Smash Run, there are three different types floating around: one that flees when a fighter approaches, one that flies sideways, and one that chases fighters. Their spinning attack is weak, but it can cause knock-back if it lands repeatedly.

PAL These pink, winged enemies are all over the place in the Kirby series. In Smash Run, there are three different types of Bronto Burt, including one that relentlessly chases after you. Their spinning attack might not deal much damage, but there's a danger you could get launched if it hits repeatedly, so be careful!

Shotzo Enemy ShotzoTrophy3DS.png

NTSC These cannons from the Kirby series could track Kirby and fire at him. In Smash Bros., there are two different kinds: ones that fire in a set direction and ones that will track and fire at a fighter. Don't waste time attacking these guys, though — it's impossible to defeat them.

PAL Not all of these cannons from the Kirby series are stuck to the ground — some float in with parasols, and some can ever move on their own! In Smash Run, some fire in a fixed direction, while others will aim at you. They're invincible, but they also can't shoot through each other. Keep that in mind when you come across them!

Gordo Enemy GordoTrophy3DS.png

NTSC These little guys from the Kirby series look like metal balls with eyes and eight sharp spikes. They can't be defeated, so don't waste your time. Instead, try pushing your enemies onto them! Watch for two different kinds: one moves along a set path, and the other stubbornly sits in place.

PAL These little guys from the Kirby series look like metal balls with eyes and eight sharp spikes. They can't be defeated, so don't waste your time. Instead, try pushing your enemies onto them! Look for the two different types: the ones that follow a set route and the ones that refuse to move.

Waddle Doo Enemy WaddleDooTrophy3DS.png

NTSC Two big eyelashes for one big eye? You're describing this beam-firing enemy from the Kirby series. This enemy may hop toward a fighter it spots and unleash an energy attack. The attack itself has a short range, but it can happen repeatedly and can stun. Unlike Waddle Dees, these guys will fight!

PAL These one-eyes, two-haired guys from the Kirby series are hungry for battle. When one spots you, it'll close in slowly with the occasional hop. Then it'll attack with its Beam Whip, which doesn't really have a lot of range, but can shock and hit you repeatedly. Ahhh... If only they were more like Waddle Dees...

Parasol Waddle Dee Enemy ParasolWaddleDeeTrophy3DS.png

NTSC This citizen of Dream Land falls gracefully from the sky clutching a parasol. Waddle Dee itself is fairly harmless, but the parasol can deflect almost anything. Don't hurt yourself accidentally! Also, be careful if one releases its parasol—that floating umbrella can really sting!

PAL These little chaps from the Kirby series are really peaceful. In Smash Run, they use their parasols to float gently down to the ground. Their parasols will deflect almost anything, so you can use them as a trampoline, if you like! If a Waddle Dee lets go of its parasol, though, be careful - floating umbrellas are dangerous things!

Bonkers Enemy BonkersTrophy3DS.png

NTSC Bonkers looks quite a lot like a gorilla and swings a giant hammer with huge launch potential. If he hits you with his own Hammer Flip attack, it's an instant KO. If that isn't bad enough, he also throws exploding coconuts. Bonkers is seriously out to ruin your day.

PAL Bonkers looks quite a lot like a gorilla and swings a giant hammer with huge launch potential. If he hits you with his own Hammer Flip attack, it's an instant KO, so be careful and make good use of dodging! If that wasn't bad enough, he also throws exploding coconuts. Yes, Bonkers is really out to ruin your day.

Plasma Wisp Enemy PlasmaWispTrophy3DS.png

NTSC This glowing enemy from the Kirby series uses plasma to attack. In Smash Bros. it'll float up to a fighter and then fire off energy attacks. There are three different levels to its attack. Level-two attacks can stun you, while level-three attacks do more damage. Keep your eyes peeled for those attacks!

Level two attacks can stun you, and at level three they do a lot of damage, so keep your eyes peeled for those attacks!

Bomber Series Related BomberTrophy3DS.png

NTSC If you think a bit of mystery is the spice of life, you'll be disappointed here. If it looks like a bomb and explodes like a bomb...it's a bomb! A cute bomb, though, I admit. If he falls or bumps into something, he'll explode. With the right timing, you can throw him at enemies and do loads of damage!

PAL If you think mystery is the spice of life, you'll be disappointed here. This guy looks like a bomb and explodes like a bomb because...he IS a bomb. Most bombs don't bumble around so cutely, though. If he falls or bumps into something, he'll explode. But if your timing's good, you can throw him at enemies and do loads of damage!

Wheelie Series Related WheelieTrophy3DS.png

NTSC Pop quiz! What do cars have four of, bikes have two of, and this enemy would blend right in with? That's right! Tires! Your prize is...more info! Wheelie likes to charge ahead, and Kirby can ride on top when he's a helper. If Kirby inhales him, he can even turn into a tire!

PAL The most memorable characteristic of Wheelies is their tendency to speed right into Kirby. If Kirby inhales one, he can turn into a tyre too! Sometimes, though, they find it in their hearts to help Kirby out by adding handelbars and a seat to their frames to become Wheelie Bikes that Kirby can ride! Nice!

Bugzzy Series Related BugzzyTrophy3DS.png

NTSC This enemy is a huge wrestling fan—he'll do his best to try out some wrestling moves on his enemies. If Kirby manages to avoid his attacks and swallow him, Kirby can bust out some wrestling moves too. Bugzzy can also release ladybugs to attack, but I think that's against wrestling rules...

PAL This enemy is really into wrestling. In fact, he's just dying to give Kirby a hands-on demonstration of his suplex skills. Sometimes he releases ladybirds in battle, but...surely that sort of thing's against the rules in wrestling. If Kirby manages to inhale this hostile beastie, he'll be able to pull off some nifty wrestling moves, too!

Plasma Kirby Series Related PlasmaKirbyTrophy3DS.png

NTSC What does the aurora borealis have in common with lightning? Plasma! And what does Plasma Kirby have in common with them? Hrm. Maybe that was too easy... Anyway, Plasma Kirby can build up plasma using the +Control Pad and fire it with the B Button. You can look up more about plasma if you want, but firing plasma is what's important here.

PAL In the Kirby series, Plasma Kirby is Kirby, but with the ability to fire plasma, and mashing the +Control Pad charges him up! "But what exactly is plasma?" you ask. Well, that's a very good question. Maybe you should look it up yourself. Can't be giving you all the answers, you know.

Combo Cannon Series Related ComboCannonTrophy3DS.png

NTSC This giant cannon is the main weapon of the Battleship Halberd. Any invader will think twice when cannonballs and laser beams are brought to bear. You'll have to be really careful around these weapons, since even the platforms underfoot will try to lift you into the path of the beam. Watch out!

PAL This is the main weapon of the Battleship Halberd. Anyone planning to attack it will think twice then they see the cannonballs and laser beams it fires. If Kirby wants to get past this thing safely, he'll have to stay light on his feet. Even the platforms he walks on are out to get him - they'll try to lift him up into the beam! Watch out, Kirby!

Halberd Series Related HalberdTrophy3DS.png

NTSC Kirby's rival, the masked warrior Meta Knight, constructed this ship to conquer Dream Land. Just in case you forget who owns it, the ship's bow is designed to look like his mask. How is a small guy like Kirby supposed to defeat a battleship?! Maybe he'll find a way inside...

Ultra Sword Final Smash UltraSwordTrophyWiiU.png

NTSC For Kirby's Final Smash, he swings a sword that's waaay bigger than he is. If the first swing hits, he'll keep going with a combo of lightning-fast slices, dealing tons of damage. For the last swing, the sword grows even larger and launches any victims. Make sure that first swing hits, though, or nothing else will happen!

32. The Beginning of Kirby
Galaxia Darkness Final Smash GalaxiaDarknessTrophyWiiU.png

NTSC Meta Knight swings his cape to ensnare foes. Darkness falls, enveloping them in an empty void and then a giant sword slash cleaves the blackness. If the cape doesn't capture anyone, this Final Smash will fail. It has more range than you might think, though and you only have to catch one foe to deal damage to everyone!

PAL Meta Knight swings his cape to ensnare foes. Darkness falls, enveloping them in an empty void, and then a giant sword slash cleaves the blackness. If the cape doesn't capture anyone, the Final Smash will fail. It has more range than you might think, though, and as long as it catches at least one foe, everyone will take damage!

34. Kirby's Adventure
Dedede Burst Final Smash DededeBurstTrophyWiiU.png

NTSC For Dedede's Final Smash, he takes a deep breath, pulling his foes toward him. Once he's gotten them right where he wants them, he'll unleash blows from his giant burning hammer. Topping things off is an explosive from the end of the hammer, sending enemies flying. Could this be worse for his foes? Yes! He's invincible the whole time too!

PAL For Dedede's Final Smash, he inhales fiercely to pull foes towards him. Once he's got them right where he wants them, he thrashes them with a giant burning hammer. Then, to top it off, he fires an explosive from his hammer, sending them blasting off. Could it get any worse? Well... yes - Dedede's invincible the entire time.

33. Residents of Dream Land
Cappy Series Related CappyTrophyWiiU.png

This enemy looks rather like a mushroom...until Kirby tries to inhale him, that is--then his cap comes off and reveals the true form he's so cunningly been concealing. It might not be much of a surprise these days, though--Cappy's been around since the very first Kirby game. He's more like an old friend than an enemy at this point.

33. Residents of Dream Land
Poppy Bros. Jr. Series Related PoppyBrosJrTrophyWiiU.png

Sometimes riding on Grizzos, other times balancing on apples or Maxim Tomatoes, this little clown clearly has some skills. Unfortunately, his job isn't to make people laugh--it's to get in Kirby's way. As you might expect from the "Jr." in his name, there's also a Poppy Bros. Sr., and he's a slightly bigger nuisance.

Whispy Woods Series Related WhispyWoodsTrophyWiiU.png

NTSC Whispy Woods lives deep in the forest, waiting patiently for Kirby to stop by so he can share his delicious apples with the pink hero... That's not true at all, actually. Instead, he drops apples on Kirby, trying to cause him injury. He may look friendly, but remember what they say: don't judge a tree by its bark.

PAL In the heart of a beautiful green forest, Whispy Woods is waiting to give Kirby some juicy red apples. Isn't that nice? Well...not really, since he drops them on Kirby's head like bombs. If that wasn't bad enough, he'll also suck up the pink puffball and blast him with air. Note to self: be more wary of trees with faces.

Apples Series Related ApplesTrophyWiiU.png

NTSC This isn't an enemy at all. It's just an apple. Still, they're something to watch out for--Whispy Woods will try to hit you on the head with them. Some enemies like to roll around on them too. Apples come in two varieties--one gives you health, and the other you can throw. And, needless to say, Kirby's favorite food is... Oh, it's tomatoes.

Broom Hatter is an apprentice witch with the hat to match. She uses her trademark broom to fly through the-- Wait. No, she just sweeps the floor with it. Maybe she's just a bit of a clean freak. Or maybe she hasn't learned to fly yet. After all, she's only an apprentice. Except...in Kirby Air Ride, she DOES fly, so there goes that theory...

Scarfy Series Related ScarfyTrophyWiiU.png

NTSC He looks almost as cute as Kirby himself, lazily floating in the air... but you shouldn't judge a book by its cover. If you try to inhale him, Scarfy will instantly turn into a terrifying, one-eyed monster before ruthlessly chasing you down and exploding! In Return to Dream Land, some kinds of Scarfy only chase you if you're holding a key.

NTSC Wearing a suit of armor that looks like a helmet (or is it a helmet that looks like a suit of armor?), little, round Sir Kibble doesn't seem all that different from Kirby in stature. Sword Kirby Series Related SwordKirbyTrophyWiiU.png

NTSC That green cap sure does make Kirby look heroic, doesn't it? Maybe wearing it just inspires Kirby, but while he's wearing it, he gets all kinds of neat moves, like Spin Slash, Multisword Attack, and Sword Dive. He's even able to pull off these moves in the air, on the ground, or underwater!

PAL Kirby looks like a pretty courageous hero in that green cap, doesn't he? Indeed, this Kirby is a master of sword-swishing, fending off enemies with the powerful Spin Slash, the rapid Multisword Attack and the stylish Sword Dive. If that wasn't impressive enough, he can also use these moves on land, in mid-air AND underwater. Beautiful!

Beam Kirby Series Related BeamKirbyTrophyWiiU.png

NTSC Waddle Doo can fire beams from his eye. Does that make you green with envy? Then inhale him and copy that ability! You'll then be able to shoot beams from a wand, and the attack can even be charged up for greater effectiveness. You can also use a beam to push switches or to grab and toss your foes.

PAL Ever felt jealous of a Waddle Doo's ability to fire beams from its eye? Well, if you're Kirby, there's really no need - swallow one and you, too, can swing energy beams to your heart's content! Charge them up to plough through multiple enemies at once, use them to grab and throw enemies, and even press switches through walls! Yeah!

Fire Kirby Series Related FireKirbyTrophyWiiU.png

NTSC When Kirby first copied the Fire ability he was only able to breathe fire. Nowadays, he can do all sorts of neat things! For example, he can engulf himself in flames and roll forward, burning grass, lighting fuses, melting ice, and so on. What we'd really like him to do, though, is help us make the perfect s'more. Mmmmm.

PAL Once upon a time, all Fire Kirby could do was shoot flames from his mouth, but he's come a long way since then. Now he can roll along the ground as a blazing fireball, burn up grass, light fuses, melt ice and so on. That's great and all, but what we really want to know is...can he help us get a barbecue going?

Perfect for a tough fight or when you need some ice for your iced coffee. Kirby isn't busy saving Dream Land or anything...

PAL When Kirby has the Ice ability, he can blast enemies with glacial gales to freeze them. He can then kick them into other enemies to take them all out at once! NTSC Kirby normally looks as tasty as a big ol' marshmallow, but he's significantly less appetizing when he's copied the Needle ability. Those pokey spikes won't add any flavor at all. With this ability, Kirby can bash into enemies or launch the spikes at them. A great, easy-to-use ability!

PAL Kirby's soft, fluffy and just...so huggable! Except when he's got the Needle ability, that is - then it's like there's a hug-free zone all around him. Being covered in spikes comes in handy, though, for rolling into enemies, and even shooting at them! However, whether that really makes up for his loss of huggableness is hard to say...

Trivia

  • The Halberd and Combo Cannon trophies appear exclusively on the 3DS version despite both elements relating to a Wii U exclusive stage.
  • Since the Gordo trophy represents its appearance as an enemy in Smash Run rather than as part of King Dedede's moveset, it is exclusive to the 3DS version.
  • Moonja is an enemy in Kirby's Return to Dream Land that wields the Ninja ability. This name (among those of other enemies introduced in this game) was never revealed in any western media pertaining to the game (its Japanese name is Tsukikage), thus marking SSB4 the first instance of such.
