Hatena (株式会社はてな) is a Japanese technology company that specializes in internet services. Founded on July 19th, 2001, Hatena has developed some of the most popular services in Japan. Such services include Hatena Diary, Hatena Keyboard, and Hatena Bookmark among many others. Hatena has collaborated with Nintendo for several products and services, including Flipnote Hatena, Miiverse, and several services for the Nintendo Switch Online App such as SplatNet 2 and Smash World.

In Super Smash Bros. 4[edit]

Hatena developed and maintained the Miiverse social network, which had a dedicated Super Smash Bros. community, as well as the Director's Room. This service was integrated into the Miiverse stage with posts related to the fighters players are using occasionally appearing in the background. This feature lasted until the shut down of Miiverse on November 8th, 2017.

In Super Smash Bros. Ultimate[edit]

Hatena develops and maintains the Smash World mobile app. They are also credited in the game's staff roll under their own section.
