What are your thoughts on the end of DLC?

Personally, I don't think this was the best way to go out, and I'm in complete denial that this is the end. For one, only one ballot character? For another, neither Bandana Dee nor Isaac got any recognition, I mean I was expecting them to at least get a Mii Costume. And for another, I really don't think that another Fire Emblem character was the best way to go out... Like at all. Not to mention the new modes that were promised. I dunno guys, I don't think this was the best way to go out, but what do you guys think? Nintenzilla (talk) 08:58, 21 December 2015 (EST)

I think DLC is nearing its end, but it's not there yet. Ganonmew, The Festive Evil Clone 09:48, 21 December 2015 (EST)
I honestly don't know how to feel. The idea of waiting another 5-6 years for the new Snash Bros. without anything new sounds apalling. I'm glad it ended this way though. I would have preferred to see Wolf or Snake over Cloud, but Corrin was more than enough for me. On the topic of Fire Emblem, I'd like to remind you this. We have 6 Mario characters (8 if you count Yoshi and Dr. Mario), 4 Legend of Zelda characters (6 if you count Young Link and Toon Link) and 6 Pokémon. These are the most successful Nintendo franchises. Comparing them to Fire Emblem, a franchise that would have died long ago if it wasn't for the handsome princess and our boy, is not an excuse. Must everyone be so hungry for new content all the time? These days I feel like a game can't be out for five minutes before people are demanding more, more, more. There's a lot of stuff in this game, guys. I'm not done enjoying it yet. Zyrac sig.png Zyrac(talkcontribs) 10:27, 21 December 2015 (EST)
Well to be fair there are a lot of notable absences. Such as the new modes and some characters that have nothing. Nintenzilla (talk) 10:55, 21 December 2015 (EST)
Everyone has their own idea of what characters "should" be in Smash, and that adds up to more characters than the developers can reasonably include. (Although for my part, I do think the continued lack of Wolf is odd - he's the only missing veteran with no reason not to come back.) As for new modes, I don't recall hearing anything about that. Just a rumour, probably. Zyrac sig.png Zyrac(talkcontribs) 11:04, 21 December 2015 (EST)

@Drill Blaster Mark 2: Technically its Mario with 7 characters (reasonable since it's Nintendo's main flagship franchise), Pokémon with 6, and Legend of Zelda with 5, compared to Fire Emblem's 6.

Returning Snake would be really good since there has been more emphases on Third-party characters for the roster. Wolf may also come back when Star Fox Zero releases. I don't know why Fire Emblem got so many characters in Smash 4. Maybe its becoming Nintendo's fourth largest series despite previous international obscurity, and still is honestly? It would also be nice if we get a new Metroid playable character. Dots (talk) 60% tech skill, 30% crazy, 10% you name it. :P The Violin 11:32, 21 December 2015 (EST)

I have a question: Why do you all think there will be more characters? Sakurai said he's done making new characters, right? I'm pretty sure that he's finished. I'm disappointed that Wolf wasn't added in. I thought for sure he would be added because of Star Fox Zero. Snake not getting in, I can understand, but that's also disappointing to me. Agreed on all points. Sakurai may be a bit of a troll sometimes, but I thiiink he means it when he says "final". He's probably itching to go make something else. Zyrac sig.png Zyrac(talkcontribs) 11:46, 21 December 2015 (EST)

Well I'll be damned if there were 60 characters in total like OT predicted. Dots (talk) 60% tech skill, 30% crazy, 10% you name it. :P The Brawl 11:48, 21 December 2015 (EST)

Sakurai flat-out said no more characters or Mii Fighter costumes; he called Bayonetta and the Takamaru wave the "last". That said, stages and modes are still technically a possibility. ---Preceding unsigned comment added by SANTY CLAWS! Or maybe DatNuttyKid. 13:18, 21 December 2015 (EST)

As much as I'd love to throw money at Sakurai for a lot longer than this for more Smash DLC, I respect the guy and am totally willing to let him be done. I look forward to whatever he does next, but he's earned himself a long vacation. He's been working on SSB4 for at least 3-4 years now. Miles (talk) 14:48, 21 December 2015 (EST)

I have to say its disappointing, if only because I had REALLY been hoping for some sort of DLC story mode. I knew it is unlikely, but still it's something Ive really been wanting. SSB4 feels incomplete without a decent single player mode to play. I find I play the 3DS version most simply because it has smash run, I only play the wii U version when new DLC is released, and that only lasts a couple of days till I get bored fighting CPU's all the time, then go back to playing smash run on the 3DS.

I dunno, I guess I figured they would save the story mode till after all the DLc characters were finished, so that all the characters could partake in its events. But I guess it isnt going to happen. Heres hoping Sakurai includes a story Mode, or at the very least a decent adventure mode, in SSB5
