Random question[edit]

Even though it's a dumb idea, discussion about fully banning MK still exists and I've seen tourneys on AiB from time to time that do ban him. So if they did go all the way and add "MK is banned" to the SBR rules, would he be removed from the tier list? After all, it's those rules that created the environment that gave him his top place in the first place. Shade487z 16:42, 11 May 2009 (UTC)

I would think he would remain on the tier list, but in his own tier named "Broken" or something. Just so the noobs wouldn't complain with "u mised metaknight you dips" etc.
That said, it really shouldn't happen. From what I've heard, Yoshi is a strong enough counter that it won't come to that. Toomai Glittershine eXemplary Logic 17:16, 11 May 2009 (UTC)
All I have to say to people complaining about the banning or complaining about him requiring banning is that if your grievances are so great, go play a different game. Semicolon (talk) 21:18, 11 May 2009 (UTC)
I agree. Cheezperson {talk}stuff 00:58, 12 May 2009 (UTC)

In case nobody's heard about WHOBO[edit]

Check out the higher placements:

  • 1: M2K=meta knight
  • 2: Dojo=meta knight
  • 3: DSF= meta knight/snake/wario
  • 4: Lee Martin=lucario/meta knight
  • 5: Tyrant=meta knight
  • 5: Co18=king dedede
  • 7: Domo=meta knight
  • 7: Melee1=ice climbers/meta knight

Meta Knight and other high tiers. Discussion plz.Smoreking(T) (c) 23:23, 11 May 2009 (UTC)

That's why they're high-tier. Nothing else to discuss. Shade487z 23:36, 11 May 2009 (UTC)
(Insert BS from anti-tiers about how this reinforces tiers). I wish I could find the entire results, and watch the low tiers be last.Smoreking(T) (c) 23:43, 11 May 2009 (UTC)

So, are you implying that MK should be banned because of WHOBO's results, or something else? Y462 (TCE ) 00:49, 12 May 2009 (UTC)

I think his point in posting that was to show that top-tiers are in the top for a reason. Beforehand, people were just SAYING that but now we've got evidence. Plus, WHOBO was pretty freakin big and had really good players, making this example even more legit. Shade487z 01:32, 12 May 2009 (UTC)
Every character can beat every character, remember that. For some it is easy and for others it is hard, but the point is that it is possible. Say a Mario player is fighting a Snake player. The Mario player will fight him differently than he would fight someone like Bowser or Yoshi because Snake has the supreme advantage over him. That means the Mario player will spam moves like fireball and b-air because all of his other moves < Snake's. Sakurai may have failed, but in every game, every character stands a chance. Tl;dr: Banning MK would be dumb, even for many reasons besides this one. Blue Ninjakoopa 15:51, 12 May 2009 (UTC)
"Every character can beat every character, remember that." I am not saying that is not true, but it is really hard to believe when you consider the Sheik vs. Ganondorf matchup or the Ice Climbers vs. Ganondorf matchup. Y462 (TCE ) 23:22, 12 May 2009 (UTC)
The fact is that it's still believable. That little 5 that Ganondorf has against Sheik? That's the five that can let him win... through tremendous effort of course. Blue Ninjakoopa 02:06, 13 May 2009 (UTC)
Seriously. To beat a Shiek, you just gotta space, punish, and then edgeguard (Uair semi spike or THE THUNDER BOOT, anyone?). To beat IC's, do like Ike does against them: Keep them separated. I'm not saying it'll be easy, but never impossible. Shade487z 02:14, 13 May 2009 (UTC)

Yea, thats when mastering your character comes in handy. -SmashBros Vet.

I never would have thought of that. You mean I shouldn't be going into tourneys without knowing what I'm doing. lol. Really, every pro has "mastered" their character so to speak. It's only when the characters are mastered that the tier list beings to take effect. Clarinet Hawk (talk · contributions) 18:15, 13 May 2009 (UTC)
Was that really necessary? Blue Ninjakoopa 18:45, 13 May 2009 (UTC)
The problem is that it shouldn't have to be necessary. Toomai Glittershine The Stats Guy 19:09, 13 May 2009 (UTC)

Why Letters?[edit]

Does anyone know why the SBR used letters to name their tiers instead of the traditional "Top, High, Middle, Low, Bottom"? - GalaxiaD Talk 04:54, 28 May 2009 (UTC)

More tiers this time around. It's simpler than trying to make intermediate names like "High-High", "High-Mid", etc. Shade487z 18:04, 28 May 2009 (UTC)
