  17. "CHOOM. CHOOM. CHOOM. CHOOM. CHOOM." -Metal Mario. Although the Super Smash Bros. 64 version of Final Destination is quite nostalgic, it's gotten remade twice while Meta Crystal currently lingers only in our memories and old SSB64 cartridges (unless you count Brawl's Yoshi's Island (SSBB) "reviving/copying" Meta Crystal's general stage design). More importantly, Meta Crystal is shiny..-er! Plus, the music for the Meta Crystal stage is amazing; a shame that it wasn't an accessible stage in SSB64's VS mode and that it hasn't returned in subsequent installments of Super Smash Bros.. Any Smash Bros. fan who hasn't heard it by now should go check it out. The only thing I dislike pertaining to Meta Crystal is that the version of the Yoshi's Island stage introduced in Super Smash Bros. Brawl kind of copied the Meta Crystal stage's overall layout/structure, although there are minor differences that seem to adequately distinguish the two.   2. Lakitu is a bit more awesome, what with his flying cloud (and, at times such as in Super Mario 64, his nifty fishing-pole camera). He even helps to start off races in the Mario Kart series and fish out racers who have gone astray from the racetrack! And his Assist Trophy effect is a bit more helpful than that of the Hammer Bros. (whose hammers hardly pack a punch), who also manage to become annoying in the Subspace Emissary mode of Super Smash Bros.   12. Although I'm quite familiar with Lugia (mainly via Pokemon The Movie 2000: The Power of One and a few TV series' anime episodes), I'm voting for Ho-Oh. Aside from being a freaking awesome rainbow phoenix/firebird Pokémon heralded for being the guardian of the sun, its signature move, the attack Sacred Fire, is one of the most glorious sights to behold in Super Smash Bros. Brawl, despite the 7-second delay from Ho-Oh's release from a Poké Ball. Furthermore, I haven't played through the Johto-based games yet (due to not having access to a Nintendo DS Lite at the moment), so when the time came to pick between the remakes (Pokémon HeartGold and SoulSilver Versions), I sided with Ho-Oh and HeartGold Version. It just seems more Johto-ish, and is more affiliated with Johto's resident trio (the legendary DOGS - yeah, I said it), as opposed to Lugia who relates more with Kanto[='s=] legendary bird Pokémon trio. Finally, Ho-Oh managed to preview the Johto-based Pokémon games/anime seasons when they hardly even existed during the Pokémon anime's first episode. All this and more make Ho-Oh the bird to beat. Ho-Oh Votes #2 and #6 were hilarious (although the Pokédex classifies Ho-oh as a red Pokémon, it does have the color green featured in its wings!). I'm surprised that I'm just now learning about Lugia's Aeroblast's one-hit knockout (OHKO) properties... Um, Lugia Vote #13...Lugia isn't a Dragon-type..though I'll agree that it does seem dragon-like. And finally, I'm glad that both of these awesome Pokémon actually do something to the opponent(s) in Brawl, unlike several other Pokémon who either have limited ranges, not-very-helpful effects, and/or require you to "maneuver" your opponent(s) in said Pokémon's attack vicinity...72.3.33.34 20:19, 1 February 2012 (EST)

ReDeads have a cool, somewhat-atypical prefix in their name (as opposed to undead), come from the Legend of Zelda series, and aren't as freaking annoying as the kiss-of-death Bucculus/Bucculi/whatever, who remind me of a mushroom enemy from the game Rocket: Robot On Wheels that does a similar thing, although it just latches onto you without actually draining energy.   14. Another hard decision! Battleship Halberd's name is a bit cooler than "Great Fox" (which is also cool-sounding in its own right) and makes a great stage to fight on with the fantastic "Meta Knight's Revenge" remix and appearances in the Subspace Emissary adventure, but the Great Fox is more nostalgic for me. From the treacherous Sector Z to the skies of Corneria and Venom, the Great Fox has always soared with awesomeness. Arwing KOs are events to relish and are typically reliable for me. And plus, the ship has a powerful laser mounted on the front (which you can stand on!) and has an entrance/exit for Arwings at the back! How cool is that? My fight (see vote #3) happened like this: A Level 1 blue Zelda was against me, a Fox. At the start of the fight, I used Illusion off the side of the stage, thinking that I'd spawn on the other side.   17. Yet another difficult decision! Green Hill Zone slightly edges out over Mushroomy Kingdom for me. The vibrancy and chaoticness of this stage is almost unparalleled, and I love that the stage has a "half-pipe" midsection, and the background even features those lovely loops with cameo characters running on them! Mushroomy Kingdom's two-stages-in-one feature and its item box Easter Eggs are quite awesome, with the stage itself being nostalgic, but Sonic's stage wins this battle.   18. Best music out of all currently-existing Final Destination stages; special mention goes to the song titled "Final Destination" for Brawl. The background is simply amazing to gaze at (when the "no items, Fox only, Final Destination" mentality isn't in effect like it is at some tournaments) and the stage itself glows in a luscious, luminous blue hue with eerie intrigue. SSB64's Final Destination fits with a mind of Mayan theme, being less "sci-fi" in appearance and looking more like some ancient technology being brought back. This is similar to the Bryonian war mechs in Metroid Prime 3. Melee's final destination, as I described in my vote, is the most "sci-fi" appearance, with it's strange markings that speak out to the idea of an alien landing platform. On the other hand, Brawl seems to have a mix of the two, and it's difficult to tell whether Brawl's FD is made out of rock or metal. Brawl's FD appears to float using a crystal placed underneath, similar to its Battlefield, indicating a kind of ancient technology similar to SSB64. This is furthered by the fact that Brawl features a race of beings living in another floating island who are actually called "ancients".

How does Master Hand tie into this? In SSB64, where Master Hand is a child, Final Destination seems to most alien of all stages. All other stages appear to just be sets that are constructed by him, as seen by the intro. FD is outright in space, however. The seemingly ancient appearance of the platform is also puzzling, as Master Hand lives in a modern world. In Melee, Master Hand's apparent powers have been greatly expanded, as he has now created an entire world. Nonetheless, FD still has an air of mystery surrounding it. If it is a landing platform, who is it for? Master Hand and Crazy Hand certainly don't need one. Brawl's FD is then the only one whose origin is accounted for, as it appears to be built by the Ancients. Master Hand therefore does not need to justify his use of it as a battle stage.

'Course not; Gen III didn't come out until after Melee, and the three team colours are in all three games.
