Forums: Index Brawl Talk Ridley for SSB4

To Our Beloved Space Dragon[edit]

I believe that Ridley is a definite choice for SSB4. And this is the reasons:

  • Ridley was in every Smash Bros game as a notable character(Intro,Background and Boss character).
  • Sakurai mentioned about Ridley in SSBB as a playable character, but only refused to do it due to the time it would take to make the character's model correctly. A voting poll was made but Ridley "lost" to KingDedede, mostly due to DDD being originally planned for earlier Smash Bros as playable.
  • Ridley is a Villain-which is what Smash Bros lacks in the department of, along with Metroid characters.
  • Like Sonic the Hedgehog of Brawl, Ridley is strongly anticipated, winning 1st place on SSB4 character polls on major gaming sites and magazines. Take note MegaMan and Geno were candidates on this poll.

Thats all I can think of right off the top of my head.Drakon64 CharizardHead.png 18:33, 15 December 2011 (EST)

Yeah, Ridley's all but confirmed for SSB4. He is the only Metroid character available, and he would be a rather unique character due to being a slow heavyweight with wings and lots of projectiles. Mr. AnonMatchupUnknown.pngtalk 20:32, 15 December 2011 (EST)
As stated on my userpage, he would have to be scaled down ridiculously in order to be included on the roster, as compared to his Brawl appearance. I think it would be Too different, and confuse the non-hardcore Smash fans. Pokémonultimate PokemonTrainerHeadSSBB.png Do a Barrel Roll! 21:30, 15 December 2011 (EST)
Have you seen the intro? Ridley was pretty good sized there and didn't look freakish( abnormally freakish, we all know Ridley isn't "normal"). This was referring to Melee's Intro. Plus Hacks with Charizard have been made and some had resulted in a near perfect Ridley. Not an inch bigger! Plus I see Ridley as a light-normal weight yet big for a character. This along with normal strength on ground makes him a target. However, Projectiles are his real skill, along with great recoveries and airials to make up for it. Range also is Ridley's weapon, Thanks to his long body and tail. However, even with speed Ridley will have terrible defense and because of Ridley's airborn love, he can be KOed easily if one fails to react. Heres the stats for Ridley I believe:
  • Attack-3/6
  • Defense-1/6
  • Speed-5/6
  • Projectile-6/6
  • Weight-2/6
  • Recovery-6/6
  • Range-5/6
  • KO ability-2/6
  • Grabs-3/6
  • Combo-4/6
  • Overall-5/6

How is that for his stats? Please rate.Drakon64 CharizardHead.png

You really can't rate characters' statistics like that. However, you cannot make Ridley light if he is going to be among the largest. Look at Mewtwo in Melee; he was as large as Bowser, DK, and Ganondorf, yet was as light as Young Link, resulting in him being easy to hit and combo, while also being very easy to KO. Even though Mewtwo had an amazing recovery, his survivability was among the worst in Melee. Omega Tyrant TyranitarMS.png 11:38, 16 December 2011 (EST)
If anyone knows Ridley, he loves being floaty due to his constant flight ability. Plus making him a heavyweight would imbalance him due to having above adverage lightweight stats. Then again Ike wasn't like his game counterpart too much at all. Ridley is either God Tier or almost Gannon Tier, due to his large light body. However, Mewtwo had only adverage projectile, and Ridley has amazing projectile. I guess I,ll change it to this....
  • Weight-4/6
  • Defense-3/6
  • Knockback-2/6
  • Dodgeing and Evading-2/6

Ridley is the """Beastial Gunship""". He has awesome projectiles and airborn options of battle along with decent physical skills. However he is a big target and easy to combo. Ridley must rely on his speed and weight to survive. He also has bad reactions once knocked down, as his size will subject him to chaingrabbing or simply being knocked down again. However he has amazing recovery and can escape further damage using his great airborne techniques. In the end, Ridley using projectiles to force opponents into submission while slaughtering them once they are airborn. His speed and range can help escape any unwanted situations along with his weight and recovery if things get too bad. How is this?Drakon64 CharizardHeadSSBB.png
