Forums: Index Watercooler Possible new policies

Though I'm new here, I'm not new to wikis- I've been registered on GuildWiki for a year and a half, and a sysop there for almost 6 months. Over on GuildWiki, we have a bunch of policies- and all of them work excellently. I have compiled a list of policies I'd like to see implemented here- I wholeheartedly believe they would benefit the community greatly. Any thoughts you have on any of them should go on their respective talkpages.

A list can be found here. --Shadowcrest 02:40, 15 August 2008 (UTC)

Everything looks good so far, IMO. Things seem well-defined and I haven't found any ambiguity that people can abuse. I think there should be added sections about what is and isn't speculation and stuff about valid sources. We tend to come across arguments over issues like that. Other than that, I think it needs a few tweaks and it'll work well for the SmashWiki. FyreNWater - (TalkContributions ) 08:15, 15 August 2008 (UTC)

This is exactly what this wiki needs right now. That and some active bureaucrats. I definitely support you and your policies. Cheezperson (talk) 20:14, 15 August 2008 (UTC)

These are excellent suggestions, Shadowcrest. You have my wholehearted support. SmashWiki is lucky to have an experienced wiki-er in you. Miles.oppenheimer (talk) 21:17, 15 August 2008 (UTC)

I see no reason why these haven't been implemented before.... - Gargomon251 (talk) 17:56, 18 August 2008 (UTC)

The people interested in that sort of thing haven't written them up, for two reasons: 1) Not enough time, or 2) Common sense, and we deal with it from there.
That said, my reply is at User talk:Shadowcrest/policy. Feel free to reply here if you need to, Shadow. --Sky (t · c · w) 19:01, 18 August 2008 (UTC)
Since I have recieved no opposition, I would like to implement all of the policies and other such things listed at User:Shadowcrest/policy over the next few days, except the RfA policy. If you disagree with any policies or wish them not to be implemented soon, please speak up. --Shadowcrest 22:14, 2 September 2008 (UTC)
Your opposition is here, but it only surrounds the You Are Valuable policy, as I think it communicates the wrong idea in an environment where so much of the user base is comprised of people that hardly contribute anything. It is a little too ambiguous, doesn't promote much of anything in terms of the operation of this wiki and above all, I just can't imagine it not working against us eventually. --RJM Talk 22:51, 2 September 2008 (UTC)
Alright, I won't implement YAV soon (unless consensus overrules you ofc). Thanks. --Shadowcrest 23:00, 2 September 2008 (UTC)
I've now implemented all of the policies except the RfA and AGF policies. Any comments on those would be greatly appreciated, and you can find Semicolon's alternate RfA proposal here. --Shadowcrest 23:06, 5 September 2008 (UTC)
