Forum:Organization of special move variations

Since SSB4 is bringing in multiple options for special moves, we need to decide at some point what to do with them. Here's my take on our options:

  • Option 1 - All variants of the same base share a page, while moves that share a slot but aren't related would get independent pages. So Mario's Fast Fireball and Fire Orb would be subsections on the Fireball page, whereas all of Palutena's and Miis' special move options would get different pages. Pages and templates listing special moves would only link to the base form.
  • Option 2 - All special moves get independent pages, related or not. So Fast Fireball and Fire Orb would be individual pages. Pages and templates listing special moves would link to all options.

Based on what we know so far, I heavily prefer option 1; there's just not enough information for things like Fire Orb to be worth a whole page (you can literally sum it up in one sentence on the Fireball page, which would become a few sentences at best after the game's release). All variants on one page would be the best. --Myth Myth Kirby.png 00:27, 13 June 2014 (EDT)
Option 1, definitely. That's why I was specifically removing redlinks to those titles. Miles (talk) 00:30, 13 June 2014 (EDT)
Option 1, with one subsection on the page that covers all the variations. That seems best to me, anyways. Although I do have another idea; what about having one page for each character that covers all of that characters special move variations? It can be linked to on the special moves template. Yeah, Option 1 sounds like a better idea. Berrenta (talk) 07:13, 13 June 2014 (EDT)

I'll go with option 1. Dots (talk) Link OoT Dots.PNG The Scientist 10:47, 13 June 2014 (EDT)
