Forum:New rule for notable players sections?

Recently, I feel as though the notable players sections have caused nothing but trouble. People continue to add non-notable players despite repeated requests to not do so. So here's my suggestion: Change the rules so that only smashers already with a page on SmashWiki can be added to those lists. Yes, some legitimate players will have to be removed from the lists, but they should have already had pages made for them anyway. I hope this idea will cut down on the amount of edits that just get undone in a matter of minutes. John This is for my signature, which I was told needed to be edited. Good idea in theory, but it does remove potentially good players and leave behind potentially bad ones. Serpent SKSig.png King 00:33, 3 July 2016 (EDT)
Well again, this can be used to encourage users to create pages for notable smashers, and we shouldn't be adding potentially bad players to those lists anyway, so I don't think either of those factors will be issues. My only argument against that is the fact that notable smashers who don't have a page and need one are therefore less likely to get a page (seeing as how red links are a way to notify us of something that needs a page). In my opinion, something needs to be done. The little infobox at the top of the website and even hidden text in the notable players section doesn't seem to stop people. So, how about edit locking the notable players sections. I wouldn't really know but if it's possible to actually change edit permissions on certain sections of a page then it should certainly be done in this case. Honestly; why shouldn't it?! You can't tell me that if a user really wanted to contribute something (most likely with a very low chance of it being a genuine improvement) to the notable players, they could discuss it with a mod. End of story. RobSir RobSir-sig.jpg zx 01:06, 4 July 2016 (EDT)
It is not possible to semiprotect a section of an article, or I'd have already done it. Serpent SKSig.png King 01:39, 4 July 2016 (EDT)
You said it yourself: it's entirely possible for a player to be notable despite not having an article, so having this as a rule doesn't make sense to me. – Smiddle 04:17, 4 July 2016 (EDT)
From June 26 - July 3, we have had 21 undoes based on notability. I'd say that the system we have in place now works fairly well. MegaTron1Decepticon.png 12:40, 4 July 2016 (EDT)
@Smiddle: Again, this should encourage users to create articles for such smashers. a huge amount of the time, it's the red links that end up getting undone.
@MegaTron1: An average of 3 violations of the rule a day doesn't seem to be a good arrangement imo...John This is for my signature, which I was told needed to be edited. PK SMAAAASH!! 13:41, 4 July 2016 (EDT)
