Forum:Custom monobook?

I'll be brief, seeing that's how I usually am about wiki stuff in most cases:

Monobook can be customized in somewhat basic ways, see here, and previously on SmashWikia there was a skin change discussion that was closed. Now I would wonder if anyone but me was interested in reviving the idea? --Havoc Reaper '48 16:15, 23 November 2010 (EST)

I basically agree, but I'd say that two areas should definitely be changed from the default Monobook - the background image, and the little icon to the left of the user bar (top-right of the page). Not drastically, but just to give SmashWiki some visual differentiation (use a Smash Bros. icon for the icon, and something relatively simple for the bg. (I've got this as my custom bg right now, but I wouldn't even have the Smash Ball in a "real" version, just the big/faint logo in the top left)

One other thought - the favicon for the wiki is identical to the SmashWikia, and also disappears a bit on the tab bar in Firefox. Perhaps tinting it blue or somesuch would be a good idea. - Reboot (talk) 23:38, 23 November 2010 (EST)

So what are we thinking for a new favicon? A shrink of the logo? Retain the Smash Bros. symbol with a non-grey colour? The usericon should probably be a small bright (say red) Smash Bros. symbol. Toomai Glittershine 14:55, 27 November 2010 (EST)

On that basis, four "bright" Smash symbol usericons (14x14 - the area is only 14px tall, for me at least), plus three of those as 16x16 favicons, with the logo also taken down to 16x16 (not sure how recognisable it is at that size, but might as well post and see...):

The usericon may nominally be 16×16, but it truncates at 14px high, so if you try to put a 16px tall image, the lowest two pixels will be hidden. Favicons, meanwhile, are square (multiples of) 16×16.

The logo as the favicon looks way too small and it is hard to make anything out in it. A blue smash ball would look better. Maybe for both the favicon and user image. Also, I like the background from the link. It would look good here. ☆The Solar Dragon☆ 12:46, 13 December 2010 (EST)
