The Falcon Flyer as seen in the comic book that came with F-Zero.

The Falcon Flyer is a ship which Captain Falcon mostly uses to complete his bounty hunter missions. Interestingly, in the F-Zero series itself, he never uses it - although it is shown in the comic that came with the original F-Zero game - and so its only video game appearances are in the Super Smash Bros. series. It first appeared in Super Smash Bros. Melee as both a trophy and on the Big Blue stage.

The Falcon Flyer appears in Super Smash Bros. Brawl's Adventure Mode: The Subspace Emissary, summoned by Captain Falcon to escape from the about-to-explode Subspace Bomb Factory; then he, Samus, Pikachu, Donkey Kong, Diddy Kong, Olimar and R.O.B. then must face Meta Ridley on top of the Falcon Flyer. After Meta Ridley's defeat, the Falcon Flyer (piloted by Captain Falcon) - along with the Halberd - lands where the rest of the heroes are, and helps in the assault to stop the Subspace Gunship.

Trophy descriptions

The Falcon Flyer appears as a trophy in Melee, Brawl, and SSB4.

Melee

Captain Falcon's speedy midsize star cruiser boasts an on-board computer that allows Falcon to control it remotely ... perhaps that's why it's never appeared on-screen in an F-Zero game. Without this ship, Falcon couldn't prowl the galaxy like a lone wolf: the Blue Falcon is a state-of-the-art machine, but it's only used for F-Zero races.

GameCube: Super Smash Bros. Melee

Brawl

Captain Falcon's speedy, midsized galactic cruiser, equipped with an onboard computer. Captain Falcon uses the Falcon Flyer mainly to track down criminals when he's plying his trade as a bounty hunter. Of course, it also comes in handy for transporting and maintaining the Blue Falcon. The Falcon Flyer is an exceedingly reliable partner.

GameCube: Super Smash Bros. Melee

SSB4

Ntsc The treasured ship of the bounty hunter Captain Falcon. Don't get this confused with the Blue Falcon, his F-Zero machine. The nose looks like a falcon, reflecting Captain Falcon's dauntless pursuit of his prey. Beware, bounty heads! Captain Falcon will track you down!

Pal Captain Falcon's beloved ship. However, it isn't so much a racing machine as it is his personal base of operations, used for chasing down his targets as a bounty hunter. A ship with style and substance, it's the perfect fit for our intrepid hero as he scours the galaxy!

Trivia

  • The Falcon Flyer has two rear engines on Big Blue, while it has three in its trophy.
  • During the Meta Ridley battle, the Falcon Flyer is technically considered an enemy; its object name in the game files is "EmnFalconflyer" and it produces hitboxes in conjunction with some of Meta Ridley's attacks.
