The Experimental Smash Player Rankings (ESPR) is a point-based list which ranks Japan's best Super Smash Bros. Ultimate players. The list was revealed on March 20th, 2022 and spans from October 31st, 2020 to March 31st, 2022.
MethodologyEdit
The methodology was based on the point system created by Haruki that was used in the Japan Player Rankings and the JAPAN Power Rankings. While 3.1 is the final and only version of the ESPR that covers the entire period of the rankings, there were several iterations released before it.
The following factors are taken into consideration with the methodology:
- Only the best six events for each participant.
- Placement at event
- Size of tournament (minimum of 128 entrants to be considered)
- Quality of attendance, particularly when COVID impacted tournament size
- Time elapsed since tournament (system favors recent events)
