The Condor (コンドル, Condor) is a creature that appears in the original Ice Climber and makes a few appearances in the Super Smash Bros. series.

Origin

The Condor's original appearance in the NES game Ice Climber.

In Ice Climber, the Condor flies around the top of the mountain, with either Popo or Nana having to grab onto its talons to complete the game's bonus stages.

In Super Smash Bros. Melee

The Condor as it appears in the Ice Climbers' Target Test in Melee.

In Super Smash Bros. Melee, the condor appears in the Ice Climbers' Target Test stage. It holds the tenth and final target in its talons atop the stage, as a reference to its appearance in Ice Climber. Unlike fellow enemies Topi and Polar Bear, the Condor retains its original appearance from Ice Climber, appearing as an 8-bit sprite.

In Super Smash Bros. Brawl

In Super Smash Bros. Brawl, the Condor appears as the Ice Climbers' entrance, carrying the Ice Climbers into the stage. As part of its appearance, it was given a new three-dimensional model.

In Super Smash Bros. 4

The Condor does not appear in either version of Super Smash Bros. 4, though it is mentioned in the Ice Climbers trophy.

In Super Smash Bros. Ultimate

The Ice Climbers return as playable characters in this installment, and the Condor reprises its role from Brawl in their entrance. Furthermore, Popo now hangs from the Condor's talons during their Final Smash, Iceberg. The Condor is also a spirit now. In the battle, you fight a red Ridley with Ice Climbers. You fight on the Battlefield version of Summit, but the floor is frozen. It is also a timed stamina battle.
