Incoming SVGsEdit

In case you haven't noticed, I've gone into my files from a year ago and pulled out .svg versions of all the series symbols. Now they're all uploaded and ready to be used. I recommend that these .svg's replace all occurences of the corresponding .gif's and png's - .svg's can be made any size and work on almost any colour background. Forget itEdit

Alrighty then, since .svgs don't work on this wiki consistently, I've made up .png versions of them. Any time you see a .svg, change it to .png, and if there's no corresponding image let me know (unless it's something I didn't do originally). Toomai Glittershine   11:31, 30 October 2010 (EDT)

Maybe it's time to reintroduce SVGs?Edit

Only 'cuz it's four years later and HTML5 adoption is a lot further along. Surely our wiki software has improved quite a bit in the meantime? I seem to remember it being updated recently.  VinLAURiA (talk) 23:01, 6 May 2014 (EDT)

Eh I dunno. .svgs have two main advantages: they can be scaled up, and they are often smaller in filesize. Since the natural size is 250px, scaling up seems pointless (there's no need to display any symbol at above that size). Filesize is not really a factor; yeah they'll be smaller in the wiki database, but they'll be converted into .pngs when actually displayed on pages anyway (or at least that's what Wikipedia does), and so there's no effective difference to the user. As a result, I don't think there's much point to going back to .svgs as of this time. Toomai Glittershine   The Spectrum 23:52, 6 May 2014 (EDT)
I guess. In any case, do you have them hosted anywhere? This isn't strictly SmashWiki-related, but I could use them for some documentation.  VinLAURiA (talk) 00:06, 7 May 2014 (EDT)
