Aesthetics

  • Change As with all veterans returning from SSB4, Captain Falcon's model features a more subdued color scheme. The top piece of his racing suit appears to be armor with visible scuffs. His eyes are larger, akin to Brawl.
  • Change The text on the back of Captain Falcon's "Blood Falcon" costume variant reads "HELL HAWK" instead of "BLOOD HAWK" as it appeared in previous installments. Curiously, a variant of the costume using the former text was previously used during Melee's development, but was changed to the latter variant on its final version and other subsequent games before Ultimate.

Ground attacks

  • Change Captain Falcon has a new forward smash: a backhand punch enveloped in fire.

Aerial attacks

  • Change Neutral aerial seems to launch opponents at a slightly lower angle.

Special Moves

  • Change Like several other powerful attacks in the game, Falcon Punch displays a dramatic slow motion effect when it successfully hits an opponent.
  • Change Falcon Dive has Captain Falcon flash with an orange tint when grabbing an opponent. It additionally has a new animation, in which he grabs his opponent with one hand while leaning more, and the flip after grabbing an opponent now has him spin slightly.
  • Buff Raptor Boost now has a slightly altered animation, and seems to gain Captain Falcon super armor, if the move connects.

Trivia

  • The "HELL HAWK" text on Captain Falcon's Blood Falcon alternate costume marks the second instance of mild language in the Super Smash Bros. series, after Rodin's trophy description in Super Smash Bros. 4.
