Burst Grenade (炸裂丸, Exploding Pill) is Sheik's side special move in Super Smash Bros. 4 and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. It replaced Chain from Super Smash Bros. Melee and Super Smash Bros. Brawl.

Overview

When used, Sheik pulls out her chain, which has a small grenade on the end of it rather than the electrical sweetspot Chain had.

When the button is released, Sheik pulls the pin on the grenade, causing it to explode. When the grenade explodes, it has a vortex effect that pulls in nearby opponents before the actual explosion occurs. The vortex also steadily damages enemies over time. In Smash 4, if Sheik performs this attack in the air, she will enter the helpless state.

If the opponent hits Sheik before dropping the grenade, it will fall to the ground. This item can be picked up and used for comboing. Grenade deals 6-8% damage when thrown.

Customization

Special Move customization was added in Super Smash Bros. 4. These are the variations:

1. Burst Grenade 2. Gravity Grenade 3. Skimming Grenade

"Throw a stealthy grenade that pulls opponents in before exploding." "Has a smaller explosion radius, but foes hit by the burst will be knocked toward you." "Throw a small, bouncing grenade. The longer it takes to explode, the less damage it deals."
  1. Burst Grenade: Default.
  2. Gravity Grenade: No draw in effect before explosion and deals less damage, but enemies hit by the blast are knocked towards Sheik, allowing for combos.
  3. Skimming Grenade: Grenade bounces on the ground away from Sheik with a controllable timed delay before exploding. The explosion deals less damage, but the bounces can deal up to triple the damage of the regular version's hit and pull.
