A Lurking Menace is a co-op event match in Super Smash Bros. for Wii U. In it, player 1 controls Mario and player 2 controls Luigi, and must defeat Bowser Jr. If the players do not defeat Bowser Jr. within 15 seconds, they're forced to fight and defeat a Giant Bowser. The players have 2 stocks while the opponents have 1.

This event is available from the start. Completing the event unlocks the down path.
- Down path: Awards 500G. Leads to Pokémon Multi Battle!
Completing the event within 15 seconds (before Giant Bowser appears) awards a Pity Final Smasher Shoes equipment.
TriviaEdit
- This event is essentially the inverse of Family Ties.
- This event uses the exact same characters as in Wrecking Bros.
- This event is similar to Event 9: The Monster Beneath the Earth from Brawl, as they involve fighting a giant enemy if players wait too long.
