Editing User:Aidanzapunk/Character concepts

This is a collection of some of my favorite characters that I have designed Smash movesets for. I had a lot of fun making these movesets, and while there are a ton more that I could show off, these are the ones that I think are best suited for showcasing a slice of the pie that's been cooking in my brain since December of 2015, when I first started making fanmade movesets. The characters on this page are listed in the order that I came up with their movesets. All movesets use Ultimate as the base, and in all tables, damage is listed without the 1v1 multiplier (as base damage).

Outside of these movesets, there are also two others worth mentioning:
*I made a moveset for Goku in collaboration with BaconMastre as part of a greater project for April Fools' Day of 2018.
*I made a moveset for Sora about a year before he was officially announced for Ultimate, which I keep around for archival purposes—I played through (nearly) every single game to make that moveset, and it took a long ass time <s>partially because I was also streaming it to Twitch</s>.

Sources for the images:
*Both Wendy's and Lucy's renders come from the mobile game Fairy Tail Wizard Chronicle. Both of their alternate colors base sprites were edited from Fairy Tail Gekitotsu! Kardia Daiseidou by user; the recolor based on Porlyusica and the edit for Wendy's Edolas outfit were both done by him as well, while I made the rest of Wendy's recolors and Lucy's Erza recolor, touched up on some of Lucy's recolors that Cammy originally did, and made the edit for Lucy's X791 outfit myself.
*Shadow's render comes from the website for Fearless: Year of Shadow. The alternate colors base sprite comes from wikipedia, and was recolored by me.
*Professor Layton's render comes from this piece of fanart by Wredwrat on DeviantArt. The alternate colors base image comes from wikipedia, and was recolored by me.
*Chun-Li's render comes from wikipedia. The alternate colors base sprite comes from wikipedia, and was recolored by Cammy.
*Tails's render comes from wikipedia. The alternate colors base sprite comes from wikipedia, and was recolored by me.
*AGES's render comes from this photo from Wikipedia.
*Amaterasu's render comes from wikipedia. The alternate colors base sprite was custom-made by user, and was recolored by me.
*Jenny's render comes from wikipedia. The alternate colors base sprite was edited from the Nintendo DS version of wikipedia by me, and the recolors were done by me as well.
*Dwarf's render comes from wikipedia.
*Sagi's render comes from Baten Kaitos I & II HD.

Wendy (ウェンディ, Wendy) is my favorite character in Fairy Tail, surpassing every other character with ease. Her voice actresses from the Fairy Tail anime—wikipedia in Japanese, wikipedia in English, Jennifer Fauveau in French, Nycolle Gonzales in Latin American Spanish, Nina Romero in European Spanish, Sarah Tkotsch in German, and Emma Grasso in Italian—would reprise their roles.

Development Anecdote
Oh, Wendy. Those of you who have been here since the mid 2010s would probably remember her as the one who sort of kickstarted the whole collection of fanmade movesets on the wiki back in late 2015, even if she wasn't the wiki's first fanmade moveset. She was, however, the very first character that I ever decided to make a moveset for, and oh boy, was the first draft ever so rough. With obviously no experience to determine how things were to work, I kind of just did what I felt was right and plugged in things that made sense to me, and while I'd do some minor touchups here and there over the course of time, it still felt a little underwhelming to me. Years later down the line, I'd get a little itch and decide to revisit the series that I loved so dearly, one of the first series that got me into anime to begin with, and give Wendy a fresh new look while doing so, and it proved to be a very fun and very creative exercise.

Character description
Wendy was orphaned at a young age, but was eventually adopted by the Sky Dragon, Grandeeney. Later, Grandeeney used Wendy as a vessel to travel 400 years into the future (to the year X777) to stop the reign of Acnologia. Wendy, thinking Grandeeney abandoned her, wandered around aimlessly until she met a young Mystogan, who introduced himself as Jellal, and was similarly lost. Together, the two wandered around Fiore, until Mystogan suddenly deemed his journey too dangerous for her; he then dropped Wendy off at a guild known as Cait Shelter.

Wendy grew up in the Cait Shelter guild from then on, until the Cait Shelter guild sent her to meet with Fairy Tail, Lamia Scale, and Blue Pegasus. The four guilds were put to the task of stopping the Oración Seis, and Wendy was the sole member representing Cait Shelter (though Carla came alongside her). During the allied guilds' ambush by the Oración Seis, Wendy and Happy were taken hostage by the Oración Seis in order to get Wendy to revive Jellal in order to help them release Nirvana, a powerful magic capable of switching light and darkness; thinking him to be Mystogan, Wendy revived Jellal, who quickly found Nirvana after leaving the Oración Seis as well. Despite Jellal's attempt at blowing up Nirvana and himself with a Square of Self-Destruction, the Oración Seis were able to gain control over Nirvana, revealing it as a gigantic moving city rather than simply a type of magic, and direct it to move towards Cait Shelter. Despite Brain, the leader of Oración Seis, being defeated by Lamia Scale's Jura, the various wizards notice that Nirvana is still moving towards Cait Shelter.

Wendy left to find Jellal, hoping that he could stop Nirvana, but, unbeknownst to her, Jellal and Erza were fighting Midnight, the strongest member of the Oración Seis. Midnight revealed to Jellal and Erza that Cait Shelter was their target due to the ancient Nirvit clan having been the ones who created Nirvana in the first place, before sealing it away due to its power, and its descendants later forming the Cait Shelter guild. Upon Midnight's defeat, this awakened the alternate personality of Brain, the guild master of Oración Seis, and a vile seeker of chaos and destruction, Zero, who swiftly knocks out Natsu, Lucy, Gray, and Happy. Once Wendy finally found Jellal and Erza, Zero was readying Nirvana to fire at Cait Shelter, and nearly succeeded had it not been for the intervention of Blue Pegasus and their ship, Christina, damaging one of Nirvana's legs and causing its gigantic laser to miss. As Christina falls due to the wizards keeping it afloat having used up their magical energy, Hibiki relays to the remaining wizards the way to defeat Nirvana: simultaneously destroying the rest of its legs, each of which have a Lacrima in them. Zero, however, reveals that he is standing in one of the legs next to its Lacrima, and that the remaining wizards have a one-in-six chance of finding him, preventing their simultaneous attack. As Wendy once again comments on how she lacks destructive magic, Erza notes how it is just her and Jellal who are tasked with taking down the Lacrima, before Ichiya reveals his presence, and Natsu, Lucy, and Gray miraculously stand back up to fight. As they all plan their attack on each leg, Jellal asks Wendy if she is capable of refilling Natsu's magic power, which she denies, and Carla further refuses. Jellal then declares that he will refill Natsu's magic power himself, leaving Wendy to destroy the remaining Lacrima—though initially hesitant, Jellal's words to her, asking her to find within her the power to destroy a dragon, invigorate herself and allow her to destroy one of the Lacrima completely.

With the Oración Seis successfully defeated and arrested, the guild master of Cait Shelter, Robaul, reveals that the guild was not the descendants of the Nirvit clan, but was the clan itself, and that he himself was the one who built Nirvana, in an attempt to stop wars. However, in its attempt to change people from darkness to light, it surrounded itself in darkness in an attempt to restore balance to the world, resulting in the Nirvit clan murdering each other, and leaving Robaul as the single remaining member—or, rather, he was the single remaining member. In the 400 years that had passed since then, Robaul's body rotted away, leaving behind a projection of his former self that lingered in Earth Land until someone could destroy Nirvana for good. With the task finally complete, Robaul, along with the other members of the Cait Shelter guild, began to vanish—Robaul revealed that the guild members were simply illusions that he made, due to a request seven years ago from a young man to look after a younger girl who had been traveling with him. Robaul points out how Wendy and Carla had no need for fake friends anymore, as they had found real friends in the guild members who assisted in the takedown of Oración Seis, and requests that the guild members look after Wendy and Carla for him, as Wendy cries out for the guild master in tears—Erza, comforting Wendy, suggests that she join Fairy Tail to fill the hole left behind by those she cared about. Upon arrival at the guild, she is happily accepted with open arms, with various guild members ecstatic about now having three Dragon Slayers among them, and throwing a welcoming party for both her and Carla.

A short while after joining Fairy Tail, she would meet Mystogan, who revealed his face to her (an act that he intentionally did not do for the rest of the guild)—noting that his face was identical to Jellal's, a confused Carla affirms that Jellal was arrested, to which Mystogan clarifies that he was the Jellal that Wendy met, reuniting the two after more than seven years.

Attributes
Being the Sky Dragon Slayer, much of Wendy's attacks are powered by wind, and as such, have windboxes attached to them. These allow her to create more distance between her and her opponents, which in turn allows her to use ranged attacks like her forward tilt and neutral special.

Her most unique asset, however, is her ability to cast enchantments, which she can use to give herself up to three temporary buffs that give her an edge: Arms increases her attack power, Armor increases her defense, and Vernier increases her movement speed. With Enchantment, she must charge the move in order to cast the spells, resulting in longer charge times for more spells. Wendy must also wait two seconds per buff granted after Enchantment wears off before using the move again.

Kirby Hat
Kirby gains Wendy's hair as a wig, as well as her Fairy Tail insignia on his right hand.

Trivia
*Outside of her moveset, Wendy makes several references to the Fairy Tail manga and anime:
**A subtle detail on Wendy's character model is her having elongated canine teeth, a feature present on all Dragon Slayers that is seen on Wendy in the manga, yet bizarrely absent from the anime.
**Wendy's up victory pose references a scene from a filler episode in the anime that focused on Wendy, where she uses a Sky Dragon Roar on a monstrous sand tornado (thus dispersing it), and, after receiving compliments from her fellow guild members, turns around and giggles.
**If left idle on stages or platforms that move, Wendy will keel over in nausea, referencing how Dragon Slayers easily get motion sick. While she was initially not shown to be affected by motion sickness, this changed at some point between the years X791 and X792.
***The one exception to this is Cloud Sea of Alrest's default form, due to friendly living creatures (such as Carla) not affecting Dragon Slayers, and she is affected normally by its Ω and Battlefield forms.
**Wendy's tripping animation is a reference to her first appearance in the series, where she comes running to meet the members of Fairy Tail, Blue Pegasus, and Lamia Scale, but falls flat on her face due to tripping on the ground; she is seen tripping in this manner multiple times throughout the series (including a comedic moment during the Grand Magic Games where both she and Sherria trip as they enter the arena). Because of this reference, she is the only character where her tripping animation has her land on her front rather than her back.
**Wendy's stunned animation makes reference to the Fairy Tail Christmas special, where Wendy, after drinking alcohol, says, "Look at all the pretty stars..." (which she repeats here); this animation is accompanied by her eyes being replaced by swirls, a common trope in manga/anime to denote dizziness, further referencing the scene.
***Additionally, this makes her one of two characters to say a full phrase while stunned, with the other being Tails.
**Wendy's pupils and irises will disappear and her eyes will become circles upon being screen KO'd, recreating the comedic facial expressions seen in both the manga and the anime.
**When faced with Kamikazee or an enemy Final Smash, the detailing in Wendy's eyes disappears, turning them a flat color with the pupil in the middle; this design trait is present in the anime when expressing terrifying shock.
*Wendy's forward smash functions similarly to, and is additionally named after, a move belonging to Let Dahaka from Fairy Tail author wikipedia's previous series, wikipedia. Let uses Dragon Race Arts, a fighting style unique to the Dragon Race that allow its user to use dragon-like techniques of multiple elemental varieties, similar in concept to the Dragon Slayer Magic of Fairy Tail; however, within Fairy Tail itself, Wendy is not shown to have this move.
**In the anime adaptation of the crossover between Fairy Tail and Rave Master, Wendy and Carla team up with Let, as well as Julia Dragoon, a fellow member of the Dragon Race and Let's lover; a similar teamup between them is seen in wikipedia, a crossover between Rave Master, Fairy Tail, and wikipedia.

Shadow (シャドウ, Shadow) is a character from the Sonic series who deserves playability status in Smash. His respective voice actors from the Sonic the Hedgehog series, wikipedia in English, wikipedia in Japanese, Benoît DuPac in French, Felix Spieß in German, Manuel Gimeno in Spanish, and Claudio Moneta in Italian, would reprise their roles.

Development Anecdote
Originally, this moveset had a lot of guns. Like, it was a central focus of his moveset. It stuck like this for years (keep in mind that Shadow's moveset was made just over a week after I finished Wendy's), but then someone brought to my attention the fact that it didn't really feel like Shadow. So I went back to the drawing board, and tried to make something a bit truer to Shadow.

Reasons for inclusion/exclusion
*
*
*
*He's a third party character.

Character description
Shadow the Hedgehog

Attributes
Shadow has been made to be as dissimilar as possible to Sonic. Though they both share similar stats and certain other attacks baring similarities to each other, the two are otherwise completely unique from each other, primarily due to Shadow's control over Chaos energy. His projectile game with his smash attacks and other special moves make him a dangerous zoner, especially when combined with his already high speed and his ability to teleport out of a situation via Chaos Control.

Professor Layton (レイトン教授, Professor Layton) is my number one pick for a Super Smash Bros. newcomer. His respective voice actors from the Professor Layton series—Christopher Robin Miller in English, wikipedia in Japanese, Martial Le Minoux in French, Mario Hassert in German, Jordi Varela in Spanish, and Oliviero Corbetta in Italian—would all reprise their roles.

Development Anecdote
Long have I had a connection to the Professor Layton series. My girlfriend lent me Miracle Mask back in middle school, and I enjoyed it immensely, and got into the rest of the franchise afterwards. Seeing as how I loved both it and Smash, I often dreamed of how the professor could fit into the game, but I didn't really have any ideas for a long time, and nearly almost gave up. I eventually decided that I wanted to give it a shot, and came up with something I was at least satisfied with. It was kind of underwhelming, all things considered, but I was still somehow willing to put up with it. When they announced a new game in the franchise, and I went back to replay through the whole franchise, I got some ideas (partially inspired by things I saw on the internet), and decided to revamp what I had already done to make it that much better, and I have to say that I find this end result to be a lot better.

Reasons for inclusion/exclusion
*
*
*
*

Character description
The player is introduced to Professor Layton in Professor Layton and the Curious Village, where he and Luke Triton are traveling to the town of St. Mystere. Luke, confused, asks why the professor is solving something as small as an inheritance dispute, but the professor assures Luke that he would not have taken up the request if it were that simple. He explains that Augustus Reinhold, the baron who lived in the town, had passed two months prior, and in his will, he detailed that whoever found the Reinhold family treasure, the "Golden Apple", would earn the whole of his estate. While the entire town was turned upside down in search of this treasure, no one had actually heard of it until its mention. As such, Layton's help was personally requested by Lady Dahlia, the late baron's wife, to help solve his last puzzle. In his investigation, he discovered that the "Golden Apple" referred to the late baron's daughter, Flora—the inheritance dispute was instead a test to see if someone could care for his daughter, and give her a new home, as the rest of St. Mystere's citizens were actually all robots. Layton would unofficially adopt Flora, and she would later join in on his adventures, as much as he would prefer she not get herself into danger.

Layton's personal life is expanded upon in both Diabolical Box and Unwound Future, where he is revealed to be teaching archeology at Gressenheller University. The player gets to explore around London and familiarize themselves with the characters he is close with, particularly Dr. Andrew Schrader, who was Layton's mentor and continued to be a good friend later in life. Diabolical Box sees Layton solve the mystery of the Elysian Box, a box rumored to kill anyone who opens it, as Dr. Schrader had it in his possession, and opened it due to being curious about it. The player gets to explore London more fully in Unwound Future, where Layton and Luke receive a letter from Luke himself 10 years in the future, asking them to help save his time from a tyrannical Layton. The game also touches on Layton's history, revealing that his girlfriend, Claire, gifted him his signature top hat, and requested he not take it off, as it suited him—after her sudden death in an incident where a time machine she was the test subject for exploded, he made a promise to himself to never take it off.

The games that released after Unwound Future all explore Layton's history further. Last Specter reveals that Luke became Layton's apprentice when he sent a letter to Layton, a good friend of his father's, asking for help. Miracle Mask reveals how Layton pursued a career in archeology because of his old friend, Randall Ascot. Finally, Azran Legacy reveals that his birth name was Theodore Bronev, he was adopted by Roland and Lucille Layton as a child, and he was passed the name "Hershel" by his brother.

Attributes
Though Professor Layton is a swordfighter, he brings a style not seen before in the Smash series. As a reference to his college years as detailed in Professor Layton and the Miracle Mask, he is a fencer, focusing on the spacing between himself and the opponent, and attacking with rapid sword strikes and stabs. His special moves, meanwhile, both allow him to attack from a distance, and to easily recover, though only one of his recovery moves may be used at a given time.

Chun-Li (チュンリー, Chun-Li) is the most iconic female character in not only Street Fighter, but perhaps the entire fighting game genre. In Japanese, she would be voiced by wikipedia, who has voiced Chun-Li from Street Fighter IV onwards; in English, she would be voiced by wikipedia, who voiced her in Street Fighter 6.

Development Anecdote
In contrast to Sakurai not preferring to bring in other fighting game characters because of how they already have a moveset laid out for them, I very much like fighting game characters making appearances in Smash, since a character is a character. Chun-Li is definitely one of the few characters that, I think, genuinely deserves a spot in the game. I attempted to carry over the "legacy" that Ryu (and, by extension, Ken) had already in place, while still bringing in some unique things that only she had.

Reasons for inclusion/exclusion
*
*
*She's a third party character.

Character description
At the age of five, Chun-Li saw her first classical Chinese play, wikipedia, and her first wikipedia movie, which fascinated her and also became part of the reasons why she started practicing martial arts.

She began by learning wikipedia. However, Tai chi was much different from the gorgeous movements she remembered from Peking Opera. Soon afterwards, her father taught her Hong Quan as well as various basic exercises from then on. With that, Chun-Li's skills in Chinese martial arts improved rapidly. Chun-Li used mostly kicks when fighting. This was something she picked up from her father, who was also said to have "legendary legs." Chun-Li continued to develop her kick attacks, embracing techniques from a variety of fighting styles, such as wikipedia, wikipedia, battle wikipedia, and wikipedia, thus eventually creating her own style.

Chun-Li would later become a detective at the age of eighteen in hopes of finding her missing father. She later followed in her father's footsteps and become a narcotics investigator at the I.C.P.O (International Criminal Police Organization), also known as Interpol, working as the organization's anti-Shadaloo investigator. Chun-Li was known as the "black sheep of the I.C.P.O.", as she was investigating Shadaloo for the illegal sales of narcotics and weapons when said evil organization got their hold of the high-ups of Interpol.

Chun-Li received an invitation to the second World Warrior tournament, and discovered that Bison had apparently survived the Thailand base's destruction. With this, she had the clear motive of destroying Shadaloo and avenging her father once again. During the tournament, Chun-Li and her allies manage to reach Bison and engage him in combat that reaches the forest. During their fight with Bison, They managed to overpower the Shadaloo dictator with Chun-Li weakening Bison with a powerful Kikosho that destroys part of the forest. When Guile urges Bison to surrender, Bison refuses and instead commits suicide by using all of his Psycho Power to make a huge explosion that blasted away, but didn't kill, Chun-Li and the other fighters who attempted to stop the dictator. With Bison's apparent suicide, the government exhaustively investigated Shadaloo's base and concluded that Bison and the other bosses had also died, despite no evidence being shown to prove that the cataclysm happened.

Attributes
Following in the steps of her fellow Street Fighter representatives, Chun-Li's playstyle focuses on moves that combo into one another to lead to high damages. Unlike them, however, Chun-Li instead focuses on quick and powerful kicks that she uses in a variety of ways. Though her special moves bear similarities to the Street Fighter cast, she is nonetheless not a clone, leaving her own unique mark on the cast.

Trivia
*As is the case with Ryu and Ken before her, Chun-Li's animations and aesthetics harken back to several aspects of the Street Fighter series:
**Her blocking and parry animations are based on those from 3rd Strike, and her roll animation is based on her back dash from 3rd Strike as well.
**Her stun animation, itself based on her stun animation across the series, is accompanied by the Street Fighter stun sound effect, unique from other characters.
**Her initial dash animation has her perform a quick forwards strafe-like motion which references the dashes from the Street Fighter series; she also has a unique, aesthetic-only "back dash" to further suit this.

Lucy (ルーシィ, Lucy) is, despite what you may be lead to believe on both fronts, one of the main characters of Fairy Tail (a role shared with Natsu), and one of the best characters in the series. Her voice actresses from the Fairy Tail anime—wikipedia in Japanese, wikipedia in English, Marie Nonnenmacher in French, Monserrat Aguilar in Latin American Spanish, Eve Bau in European Spanish, Lina Rabea Mohr in German, and Chiara Oliviero in Italian—would reprise their roles.

Development Anecdote
If you've been around long enough to remember Wendy, you should also remember the fact that I originally made Lucy an Assist Trophy. After some thought some odd years later, though, I didn't think the role suited her well, so I gave her a fully fledged moveset, and it's one that I've been really happy with, considering how unique she is in comparison to the number of other (let's be frank here) generic shonen protagonists that people suggest putting in Smash, itself helped by the fact that, unlike them, she's a woman.

Reasons for inclusion/exclusion
*
*She's an anime character.

Character description
Lucy was born into the Heartfilia family, and lived a very rich life due to the success of her father, Jude. However, because of Jude's focus on business, he often neglected her, and even did not pay her any mind on her birthday. This, in tandem with the death of her mother, Layla, at a young age, left her lonely as a child, and she often relied on Aquarius, a Celestial Spirit left to her by her mother, to play with. This aggravated Aquarius a lot, but deep down, she still cared for Lucy. Eventually, without telling Jude, Lucy left to find a wizard guild to join, in an attempt to start over at life, with one of the guilds she intended to join being Fairy Tail.

While out visiting the harbor town of Hargeon, she overheard excitement towards the appearance of "Salamander", a wizard capable of using unique fire magic. She, like the rest of the crowd of women, became enamored with "Salamander", before a young man with pink hair and his cat interrupted, bringing Lucy out of her near-hypnotized state. As "Salamander" leaves, inviting the group of women to a party on his yacht, Lucy thanks the strangers for their help, and treats them to lunch, learning their names—Natsu and Happy—and explaining that "Salamander" was using an illegal charming magic, and that their interruption saved her. Later, as she is reading the latest issue of Sorcerer Weekly and laughing to herself about Fairy Tail's antics, she is approached by "Salamander", who entices her to attend his yacht party in exchange for putting a good word in for her to the guild master of Fairy Tail. She attends, and nearly accepts a drink from "Salamander", before deducing that the drink is sedated, and lashing out. She is then kidnapped, and "Salamander" reveals that the yacht is a cover for a slave trade ship headed to the country of Bosco. Lucy attempts to use her Celestial Spirit keys, but, as "Salamander" has no use for them, he throws them out the window to sea. Just as Lucy is about to be branded, Natsu barges in from the ceiling, though his cool entrance is negated by his motion sickness kicking in. Happy swoops in and flies Lucy away, though his wings soon disappear and the two fall into the ocean. Thinking quickly, Lucy swims to find her keys, and summons Aquarius to bring the ship ashore—despite some sass, Aquarius ends up doing this anyway, and with the ship no longer rocking, Natsu is able to fight properly, where he reveals himself to be a Fairy Tail wizard, having never seen "Salamander" before. "Salamander" is then revealed to be Bora, a wizard who was expelled from the Titan Nose guild that repeatedly used magic for thievery. Bora attacks Natsu with fire, and Happy stops Lucy from stepping in—as it turns out, Natsu is a Fire Dragon Slayer able to eat fire, and is known far and wide as Salamander. Natsu goes overboard in the fight and wrecks the harbor, which catches the attention of the Fiore army. Natsu quickly leaves, and, remembering how she said she wanted to join Fairy Tail, takes Lucy with him, confirming that she still wanted to do that. With an excited yes, she followed him there, escaping the army.

Some time later, Jude would enlist the help of the Phantom Lord guild to track her down and bring her back home. This resulted in an all-out war between Phantom Lord and Fairy Tail, with Fairy Tail ultimately claiming victory. In the aftermath, Lucy returned home to apologize to Jude for leaving without saying a word, only to reaffirm her decision to leave by officially cutting ties with him. However, he manages to track her down once again another while later, having lost his entire fortune when his business was bought from him, and with the intent of restarting his life in a merchant guild in Acalypha, he requested 10,000 Jewels from her to get him back on his feet, an absurd request that she rightfully declines, and angrily dismisses him. The following morning, she overhears her guild members talking about how the merchant guild in Acalypha was under attack by the dark guild, Naked Mummy. She leaves for Acalypha alone, and manages to singlehandedly diffuse the situation with help from her Celestial Spirits, only to discover that Jude arrived just minutes after everyone had been saved. Apologizing for his actions from the previous night, Jude reveals that the very same merchant guild was where he met Layla—both left the guild after discovering they were going to have a child, and, finding it funny that the guild's sign, normally reading Love & Lucky, was missing its "k" at the time, they decided that, if they were to have a girl, she would be named Lucy. The two part ways amicably, with Lucy wishing him well in his new endeavors.

After returning to Fairy Tail after being trapped in Fairy Sphere for seven years, she ventures to Acalypha to pay Jude a visit, only to be told by the receptionist that he had died the previous month. Though initially not outright saddened by the news, noting that she wasn't even crying, her landlady informed her that mail had arrived for her consistently on the same day—her birthday—from the same person—her father—for the past seven years, and that the most recent one had arrived that morning. In it was seven years' worth of rent, and one final letter from him, stating that he will always love her, causing Lucy to bawl and state that she will always love him too.

Attributes
Being a Celestial Wizard, Lucy can call upon various creatures called Celestial Spirits with the help of her keys, and these Celestial Spirits make appearances in various attacks. The Celestial Spirits act as their own forces, not tied to Lucy's own hurtbox, and if they are hit by an attack that deals knockback, they will enter a brief, light recoil animation before disappearing, leaving whatever move they're associated with unusable until they disappear. However, Lucy does have a slew of attacks on her own, for many of which she uses her whip, Fleuve d'étoiles, granting her access to a ranged weapon, and, more importantly, attacks that don't rely on an external force.

Additionally, much like Yoshi and AGES, Lucy has a unique shield that does not shrink as damage is dealt. This shield is represented by Horologium, who hides Lucy inside his glass case. Though he functions similarly to Yoshi's egg shield or AGES's capsule shield in that he prevents Lucy from being shield poked, he does not progressively turn darker, instead having a magic seal (based on the ones from the original Fairy Tail anime) progressively shrink in size, akin to a normal shield. Horologium also performs Lucy's rolls and spot dodges, though he is absent for her aerial dodges.

On-screen appearance
Horologium falls on-stage and opens, revealing Lucy, who crawls out.

Taunts
*Up taunt: Plue appears next to her, and performs a dance while she laughs in amusement.
*Left taunt: Pyxis appears next to her, shows its compass spinning, and points towards the nearest opponent (at the moment of the point itself); Lucy looks on curiously at the spinning compass, and pumps her fist in acknowledgement upon the point.
*Right taunt: Lyra appears next to her, and plays her harp.
*Down taunt: Crux appears next to her, though is fast asleep, which disappoints Lucy.

Idle poses
*Stretches her arms upwards.
*Pumps her fists.

Crowd cheer
Lu - cy!

Victory poses
*Left: Lashes her whip out multiple times before holding it taut, and saying, "This win was for the Fairy Tail guild!"
**If Wendy was present, she will instead say, "Sorry about that one, Wendy. No hard feelings, right?"
**If Pokémon Trainer was present, she will instead say, "I guess we both take good care of our little helpers, huh?"
*Up: Plue runs up to her and receives lots of pets because he's a good boy.
**If her last used Celestial Spirit was Scorpio, the two will throw their arms out and shout, "Wicked!" (ウィーアー！, Wheeyeah!)
**If her last used Celestial Spirit was Virgo, Virgo will appear tied up and ask, "Is it time for punishment, Princess?" (おしおきですね、姫？, Is this punishment, Princess?), and the camera will pull back to reveal a distraught Lucy.
**If her last used Celestial Spirit was Gemini, the duo will spin around Lucy while shouting their iconic "Piirii piirii!" (ピーリッ ピーリッ！), before transforming into Lucy themselves, and posing alongside Lucy.
**If her last used Celestial Spirit was Cancer, he will give Lucy a haircut and exclaim, "Looks good, baby!" (ばっちりエビ！, It's perfect-ebi!)
**If her last used Celestial Spirit was Sagittarius, he will salute and say, "I hope I was of proper service!", to which Lucy will give a thumbs up and enthusiastically respond, "You did great, Sagittarius!"
**If her last used Celestial Spirit was Capricorn, the two will perform a high kick, catching the other's foot, before bowing to each other, with Capricorn saying, "Well done, Lady Lucy." (さすがルーシィ様, As expected of Lady Lucy.)
**If her last used Celestial Spirit was Aquarius, Aquarius will create a wave of water to rush over the screen, which is revealed to have caught Lucy in it.
**If her last used Celestial Spirit was Taurus, he will ogle her with hearts in his eyes and say, "Your body still mooooooves me, Miss Lucy!", and Lucy will push him away, saying, "Can it, big guy."
**If her last used Celestial Spirit was Loke, he will push up his glasses while getting closer to Lucy and say, "I could take you back to the guild, if you want.", to which Lucy will make an X with her arms and respond, "Not happening, pal."
**If her last used Celestial Spirit was Aries, she will look away sheepishly and say, "I'm sorry I wasn't much help...", to which Lucy will hug her and reassuringly say, "You helped me win, Aries!", causing Aries to smile and giggle in response.
**If her last used Celestial Spirit was Pyxis, Pyxis's compass will spin around before it and Pyxis point to Lucy herself as her name flashes on-screen (as if to signify her being the winner), causing her to laugh in amusement.
**If her last used Celestial Spirit was Lyra, Lyra will be playing the victory theme on her harp for Lucy, who is asleep in her lap.
**If her last used Celestial Spirit was Crux, Crux will be fast asleep, and Lucy will shout, "Will you wake up?!", but to no avail.
**If her last used Celestial Spirit was Horologium, Lucy will wave at him and say, "Thanks for all your help!", to which he responds, "It was my pleasure." as he disappears.
**If she refrained from using any Celestial Spirit in the fight, the pose will be normal.
*Right: Places her hand on her chest and sighs, before throwing her fist in the air triumphantly and saying, "I did it!" (やった！, I did it!)
**If Lucy wins on a team with Wendy, they will each hold up a fist and say "Fairy Tail is unstoppable!"

Kirby Hat
Kirby gains Lucy's hair as a wig, as well as her pink Fairy Tail insignia on his right hand.

Trivia
*Humorously, Horologium also performs Lucy's dizzy animation, with Lucy being physically knocked out of him upon a shield break, and frantically shaking him while shouting "C'mon, Horologium, snap out of it!" (ホロロギウム！しっかりして！, Horologium! Stay strong!) to try and get his attention. Uniquely, this will leave Lucy's back turned from her normal position, unlike any other stunned character.
**This, however, only happens if Lucy's shield is broken; any other means of stunning her (such as with Disable or a Deku Nut) will have her be stunned instead, making her the only character in the entire roster to have two dizzy animations—a distinction that, coincidentally, used to apply to Wendy.
*On account of each Celestial Spirit receiving their own unique victory pose, Lucy has the highest amount of victory poses out of any character, with a grand total of 18—the standard three, one each for the other Celestial Spirits (totaling to 14), and an additional team battle victory pose.
**Additionally, Lucy is the only character to have a different taunt for each direction of the D-pad, simultaneously making her one of a few characters to have more than the standard three taunts.
*Outside of her moveset, Lucy makes several references to the Fairy Tail manga and anime:
**The dance Plue does in her up taunt matches the dance he does with Natsu and Happy in episode 50 of the anime.
**Whenever Lucy summons a Celestial Spirit, a doorbell sound is heard, matching the aesthetic detail with summoning Celestial Spirits in the anime.
**Lucy's eyes will become flat white circles upon being screen KO'd, recreating the comedic facial expressions seen in both the manga and the anime.
**When faced with Kamikazee or an enemy Final Smash, the detailing in Lucy's eyes disappears, turning them a flat color with the pupil in the middle; this design trait is present in the series when expressing terrifying shock.
**The haircut Cancer leaves her with in their victory pose matches her shorter hairstyle seen prior to the timeskip in the series.
**All of Lucy's Celestial Spirits are unaffected by darker stage lighting, matching an aesthetic detail present in the 2014 Fairy Tail anime series.

Tails (テイルス, Tails) should have been made playable a long time ago. His current voice actresses from the Sonic series—wikipedia in English, wikipedia in Japanese, Marie-Eugénie Maréchal in French, Graciela Molina in Spanish, Paulina Weiner in German, and Benedetta Ponticelli in Italian—would reprise their roles.

Development Anecdote
Even though they won't ever be seen officially, both Tails and Shadow are kind of my response to the poor representation the Sonic series has in Smash. I'm surprised it took me as long as it did to make a moveset for him, but I still had a lot of fun doing it.

Reasons for inclusion/exclusion
*
*The Sonic series needs more solid representation.
*He's a third-party character.

Character description
Tails first appeared in Sonic the Hedgehog 2 as Sonic's little buddy. Despite only being eight years old, he's a genius inventor, having made tons of robotic and mechanic inventions throughout the course of the series.

Attributes
Being Sonic's partner, Tails understandably shares similar (or close to similar) attributes with the blue blur, but the two are otherwise unique in playstyle. While Tails has his fair share of physical attacks, he additionally brings his gadgets and technology into the fray, as well as utilizing his two tails to fly around the stage, as he has multiple jumps at his disposal. His up special also allows him to fly around the stage with ease, though quicker use of it shortens the usage time more quickly.
