Smasher talk:SluG

Hello I would like to discuss this page and the obvious changes that need to be made to it. Recently I watched a youtube video of SluG defeating n0ne at mainstage 2021 (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YLThZefxXYY) and while reading the comments I saw one that stated "Sad to see none lose to someone who was banned for being transphobic and violent from multiple tournament scenes". This really struck my attention since I did not think SluG was like this. So then I did my research and found this article that is the cause of the user to make that comment. I then did extensive research into this article, the references, and everything that caused SluG to be banned. The first thing I looked into was the transphobia accusations. I learned that in the references there was ZERO evidence of any transphobia what so ever so I was very confused on why this article accused him of trasphobia. I then looked through the edit history and realized that the transphobia accusation was added by a user "Black Vulpine" after they looked through some previous references and tried to add a summary. This user did not thoroughly go through the references and understand them because again there is ZERO transphobia from SluG in any of the references or reasons for the bans. The reference that must have confused Black Vulpine into adding the transphobia remark is reference 2 (https://twitter.com/meleesadposts/status/1372986116652077060). After looking into this thread, it has nothing to do with SluG's ban. This thread is about accusations towards a different person "Zion". In the screenshots that include SluG, it just shows SluG confirming that in the past Zion made transphobic remarks and then he states that Zion is reformed now. This is not evidence at all of any transpobia from SluG and this twitter post has nothing to do with SluG's ban. This prompted my first edit on SluG's wiki that was removing the transphobia accusations because they are obviously false and a defamation to his character. This edit still stands and needs to be made. This was a good start for me because it removed false claims that were causing defamation towards SluG. I then started looking into the ban more and what caused SluG to do this. I found a lot of important information that needed to be changed and included. 1. The wiki stated SluG had toxic and violent behaviour towards other members. This is false because in the screenshots it shows all of SluG's behaviour was just discord messages to singular person. I then made the edit changing "members" to "member", specified the user SluG sent these messages to, and specified exactly what this behaviour was (Discord messages). These edits still stand and need to be made. Also when doing this edit I found context to why SluG made these comments and was banned and figured context to all of this was very important to include since it accurately displays the entire situation, instead of just one side. I then added context and provided this reference (https://twitter.com/jeandolla/status/1427726761035509761). This still stands and this edit needs to be made. The next edit I did was I went back and removed the 2nd reference because it was obviously causing confusing and nothing to do with SluG's ban. This edit still stands and needs to be made. I then made the last edit that specified that the violent messages were sarcastic. and provided fair argument to why I thought this need to be included. This one is still up the air to me and would love an unbiased third party to read through this whole event and see what they think on this. Black Vulpine I would love for these changes to be reviewed and made ASAP as it obvious there are incorrect claims on here causing defamation to SluG's character. 172.250.26.111 14:06, November 18, 2021 (EST)

The final edit to the Ban section that I am proposing is as follows.

"SluG is currently banned from Ohio, Missouri and the Melee Online Discord server. Reasons for the ban include toxic and violent Discord messages towards another member, BIG REZ, who called SluG's friend a homophobic slur."

Removing reference 2 as it has nothing to do with SluG's ban. And adding this reference (https://twitter.com/jeandolla/status/1427726761035509761) for the context of SluG's actions.

Look, I’m not going to lie here: I believe you are trying to sugarcoat the circumstances of SluG’s ban. I was pretty thorough when I went up and down the tweets, as well as this new talk page message you have provided here, and I still believe that everything is true, especially since Zion ended up being banned under similar circumstances to SluG, and at the same time as him too. I would like to remind you that you should not be calling any of it defamation, as this implies a deliberate intention to slander the name of the smasher, which is NOT the wiki’s mission. We are here to gather facts, not opinions. You got cautioned by the admins because I raised concerns on our Discord that you were trying to sugarcoat SluG’s circumstances and make him look less guilty than he actually is. I personally have seen community bans enacted for less than what he did, both inside and outside my own communities, so I know what it’s like, as well as what to look for when considering what’s tolerated and what’s not.
All of that said, what you have said here is currently being discussed on the wiki Discord. It could take a day or two but we will consider what you have said and get back to you, so make sure to watch this space. Thank you. Black Vulpine the 🦊Furry🐺. Hello I am just getting approval here to change "behaviour" in the Ban section to "Discord messages". Since we are here to gather the facts it is important to include them here. We know exactly what the "behaviour" was so we need to specify it as such. Thanks! 172.250.26.111 16:07, November 20, 2021 (EST)

Done. Black Vulpine the 🦊Furry🐺. Furries make the internets go! :3 16:30, November 20, 2021 (EST)

Changing the ban status from Ohio, Missouri and Melee Online to only Ohio and Missouri as it appears he's been unbanned from Melee Online. Tribe (talk) 20:05, October 3, 2022 (EDT)
