New articles[edit]

When making a new article, it is best for it to have some substance to it before posting it to the mainspace. Your article for "Smash Throw" had next to nothing on it except to say it had nothing on it. If you want to put together an article over time, consider making it a Draft in your userspace first. It is simple to make one, for example with "Smash Throw" you go to your user page and in the address bar add "/Smash Throw" to the end (end result would be "User:Yo'ster/Smash Throw"). --CanvasK (talk) 15:24, May 12, 2024 (EDT)

Where's the address bar? Yo'ster (talk) 15:31, May 12, 2024 (EDT)
It's what you type into to get to websites or do searches; where you would type youtube.com or ssbwiki.com. For further clarification, the full URL would be "https://www.ssbwiki.com/User:Yo'ster/Smash_Throw". The link you added to your userpage would take you to the link I posted. --CanvasK (talk) 15:34, May 12, 2024 (EDT)
Okay, I have a copy of it in my profile page, now. So should I delete the other one? Yo'ster (talk) 17:38, May 12, 2024 (EDT)
Nevermind someone else already did. Yo'ster (talk) 19:13, May 12, 2024 (EDT)
You'd only be able to mark it for deletion, only an admin can delete it properly--which one did (and if you mark it they'd get to it eventually either way). Also, when replying on a talk page, do so on a new line with 1 more colon (:) at the start. --CanvasK (talk) 22:39, May 12, 2024 (EDT)
Okay, the page I made has actual stuff in it now. Should I put it back where it was? Yo'ster (talk) 12:35, May 14, 2024 (EDT)
I brought it up on the discord server to see if it is suitable for mainspace; the content isn't my area of expertise so I'm not the best judge of that. Going to tweak some of the formatting to satisfy some policies/guidelines and be closer to other articles. --CanvasK (talk) 14:29, May 14, 2024 (EDT)
(Reset indent) The main sticking point is the name since "smash throw" is the term used for throwing items with a smash input. One suggestion was to put "desync" in the name somewhere such as "desync smash attack confirm" to clarify it as Ice Climber-related. Any name change can be done when the article is moved, so don't worry about rewording the article just yet. If you want you can join the discord to have the conversation there, may be more intuitive/smoother (perfectly fine if you don't want to). --CanvasK (talk) 15:26, May 14, 2024 (EDT)
Perhaps simply changing the name to "Throw Smash" could work? Also I can't seem to find the Discord server. Yo'ster (talk) 15:47, May 14, 2024 (EDT)
I also brought up "throw smash" but I think it may be too easily mixed up with "smash throw". You should be able to get to the server through SmashWiki:Discord server. --CanvasK (talk) 16:04, May 14, 2024 (EDT)
Hey, can you guys give me the contributor role so I can say (type) things there? Yo'ster (talk) 16:23, May 14, 2024 (EDT)
I don't have that ability, only admins I think. I don't know the proper way to do it, but asking about it in #general tends to work (may take a bit if an admin isn't online). Maybe "Can I have the contributor role? I'd like to discuss the Smash Throw article. My name on the wiki is..." or similar. --CanvasK (talk) 16:32, May 14, 2024 (EDT)
