Break the Targets (also known as Target Test and Target Smash!!) is a mode that has appeared in all three Smash Bros. games. It involves breaking 10 (usually red) targets in the lowest amount of time.

Super Smash Bros.

In Super Smash Bros., Break the Targets appeared as a bonus practice along with Board the Platforms. Each character has a specialized target test that utilized their special abilities. Break the Targets appears as a bonus course in 1P Game.

Super Smash Bros. Melee

Melee elaborated on the original Break the Targets with better graphics and the specialized courses for every character witch totaled 25. Break the Targets now appears in Classic mode but not in Adventure Mode.

Super Smash Bros. Brawl

In Brawl, Target Smash!! will feature only 5 different courses and each character will no longer have a unique target test. The five courses correspond to 5 difficulty levels: easy, normal hard, very hard and intense. Each course has increasingly difficult obstacles and different backgrounds and target colors. Each difficulty above easy can be unlocked by beating the corresponding Classic Mode difficulty once or beating the difficulty immediately under it twice.
