Strangely, the game features English voice acting with Japanese subtitles, despite originally being exclusive to Japan. This is because the game was originally developed for American audiences, who had been demanding more mature-themed games from Nintendo. However, the game's release was delayed until 2000, by which point the North American and PAL Region market for the N64 had become so weakened, the game's developer, Treasure, decided it would not be profitable and quietly removed the game from it's roster of upcoming games, despite heavy pre-release promotion by sources like ''Nintendo Power''.
