Robin (ルフレ, Reflet) is the default name for the avatar character in Fire Emblem: Awakening.

Character description

The idea of having an avatar for the player was first explored in Fire Emblem on the Game Boy Advance. This game introduced Mark. Unlike Robin, Mark cannot be used in battle, and has little impact on the plot.

The concept of an avatar character for the player appeared again in Fire Emblem: New Mystery of the Emblem, Heroes of Light and Shadow on the Nintendo DS, after a four game gap. Unlike Mark before him, this avatar, Kris, is able to be used as a unit on the battlefield, and has an appearance that can be customized by the player.

Robin appears as the customizable avatar character in Fire Emblem: Awakening, and is a main character of the plot alongside Chrom. In the beginning of the game, Robin is found lying in an open field by Chrom, his sister Lissa, and his bodyguard Frederick. They find out that Robin is an amnesiac who remembers nothing besides his name, Chrom's name and his incredible knowledge and experience in fighting battles, which Chrom experiences first hand after they manage to save a small settlement despite the strength and numbers of the enemy. Regardless of skepticism of his amnesia from Frederick, Chrom recruits him into the Shepherds as their chief tactician, who are soon faced with a war between Ylisse, their home country, and Plegia, the neighbouring region. Throughout the game, the Shepherds recruit other people that show promise in fighting ability, and meet with children characters (such as Lucina) who hail from an alternate timeline where the world is doomed and on the brink of destruction thanks to Grima, the main villain of the game. Robin eventually learns of his origins and his ties to Validar, who is supporting Grima and also appears in the Premonition of the game, which briefly highlights the alternate timeline's events.

In game, Robin starts in the Tactician class exclusive to him, his potential children, and DLC characters, which enables him to attack with magic tomes as well as swords. This is how Robin is portrayed in Super Smash Bros. 4. As the avatar character, he can support with every other character, and marry any opposite gendered character the player wants, including the aforementioned children characters.

As a Playable Fighter

Robin appears as a newcomer in Super Smash Bros. 4. Players can choose either the male or female models of the character, based off the default appearances for both genders. They use a variety of magical moves along their sword.

• Robin is the only playable character in the Fire Emblem series to not have blue hair.
