—Introduction Tagline

Greninja (ゲッコウガ, Gekkouga) has been confirmed as a newcomer in Super Smash Bros. 4, revealed during the April 8th, 2014 Smash-centric Nintendo Direct.

Known moveset

  • It can make spouts of water come out of palms (may be a taunt).
  • It can create water blades to slash enemies with.
  • It uses its tongue as an attack, launching enemies upward.
  • An aerial stomp with one foot that propels Greninja straight down, possibly a down air.
  • Two aerial kicks that hit from behind, possibly a back air.
  • Swinging a watery sword forward in the air, possibly a forward air.
  • Slashing with two watery swords upwards while standing. This move hits twice.
  • Two hand swipes followed by rapid swipes ending with slap, possibly its neutral attack.
  • A forward slash with its arm while standing.
  • Trapping the opponent with a whirlpool, possibly a pummel.
  • A sliding kick.
  • A straight kick forward.
  • Greninja can also be seen crawling briefly in the trailer.

Special moves

  • Neutral Special: Water Shuriken. A chargeable projectile. When charged, this attack damages opponents multiple times.
  • Side Special: Shadow Sneak. It can be used to vanish and ambush opponents; Greninja can move while charging it.
  • Down Special: Substitute. A countering move, allowing Greninja to teleport and attack foes, even from afar.
  • Up Special: Not known, but Greninja can use water to ascend in multiple directions. It seems to work like Quick Attack.

Final Smash

At the end of its reveal trailer, Greninja is shown repeatedly slashing at an enemy in the air that appears as a silhouette in front of the moon. Since Greninja is seen with the Smash Ball glow during this move, it is implied to be its Final Smash. It might be night slash. Stan the Man (talk) 20:07, 12 May 2014 (EDT)
