Downloadable content, usually shortened to DLC, is any content that is not available during the first time playing the game, and must be downloaded later in order to become usable. First introduced in Super Smash Bros. 4, DLC allows the game to continue receiving new content post-release. First confirmed in the forwiiu 50-Fact Extravaganza Nintendo Direct, DLC has been confirmed to be used to add new playable characters, stages, and, in some cases, even new features.
