Battlefield is a special stage in Super Smash Bros. Melee (though it existed in Super Smash Bros. as the Fighting Polygon Stage where you fight the Fighting Polygon Team) unlocked by clearing All Star mode on any difficulty, with any person. The field's main part is flat, just like Final Destination, but not as long. Above it lay three platforms, in pyramid style. This level is considered completely fair. It is one of the unbanned levels in tournament standard matches. It shares similarities to Final Destination in the sense that the background is abstract and changes shape and color constantly.

In Classic mode, you fight the metal characters in this stage. In Adventure, you fight the Fighting Wire Frames, Metal Mario, and Metal Luigi on this stage. In All-Star, you fight Mewtwo and anyone else with him on this stage. In Multi-Man Melee, you fight the Fighting Wire Frames on this stage.

Recovery on this stage is difficult, due to the very thin edges on either end. If a player misses their edge with a vertical up B, they end up going underneath the stage to a certain death. It's harder to sweet spot the edge using characters such as Marth and Fox on this stage.

There is one exception to this.  With Falco (and harder with Fox), it is possible to platform cancel his phantasm (over-B) move on one of the bottom platforms.  Then, you can choose to immediately phantasm to the next platform, which also platform cancels.  Then, you can DI forward and  phantasm to edgehog the edge opposite of where you started.  See DaShizWiz's video here at 1:27 for an example.

Battlefield is also infamous for its so-called "glitchy" edges. It is said that, unlike with other stages, if you attempt to sweet spot the ledge, and continue to hold toward the ledge as you do so, you will often miss the ledge when it clearly looks as if you should have been able to grab it. Also, there have been cases where 'miracle ledge grabs' have been performed in cases where it did not look as if the character should have survived.
