Main Page

The Main Page is now unprotected. Bonko24 19:12, 12 January 2008 (UTC)

Hi there!

Welcome!

Welcome to our wiki, and thank you for your contributions! There's a lot to do around here, so I hope you'll stay with us and make many more improvements.

Questions? You can ask at the Help desk or on the "discussion" page associated with each article, or post a message on my talk page!
Need help? The Community Portal has an outline of the site, and pages to help you learn how to edit.

I'm really happy to have you here, and look forward to working with you!

I see you've been making an enormous amount of edits. Great work, and thanks!

Angie said this place needed some help, so I decided to drop by and do what I can. :) --Charitwo 19:39, 13 January 2008 (UTC)

Pikipedia user?

Are you a Pikipedia user? (That's www.pikmin.wikia.com, by the way.) 02:09, 16 January 2008 (UTC)

I probably reverted some vandalism or spam there, I probably didn't stick around long to be an active editor. -- 02:18, 16 January 2008 (UTC)

Yeah, the place needs some help...... 04:10, 16 January 2008 (UTC)

Thanks!

Thank you for categorizing my page, Pach E. Derm. I was a little mixed up so I didn't do it. I'll remember to do that if I create another page. Thanks again!

Merging

Do you have any experience in merging. It would be great to merge with the Brawl mini wiki before it's release date but I don't have any idea how. I have also left ShadowUltra, who seems to be the most active contributor there, a message about merging, but no response. Bonko24 18:58, 22 February 2008 (UTC)

Merging would have to be done by one of the Community Team, preferably Angela or Catherine, since they are the ones who handle wiki requests. --Charitwo 19:39, 22 February 2008 (UTC)

Possible SmashWiki merge

Hey Charitwo, I got big news for you. SmashWiki, the other SSB wiki, may be merging with this wiki soon, possibly by next Tuesday. So, since this will be a fairly large merge, it is in our best interest that we plan out the merge in case it does happen so that it happens smoothly. We have to discuss the best way to organize, like what content comes to this wiki, what content gets deleted, etc. Feel free to discuss the merge on talk page.--Richard 21:10, 22 February 2008 (UTC)

Launch Guide

The launch guide is is pretty much done so I'd like to display it some how on the main page or as a banner along the top of the page. I don't know which would be best or how to do it. Would you know how to do this? The page is Super Smash Bros. Wiki:Super Smash Bros. Brawl Launch Center. Bonko24 23:44, 27 February 2008 (UTC)

Merging

Thanks for the heads up. I'm fixing them now. Bonko24 17:00, 29 February 2008 (UTC)

Gonko

Or something to that effect's name: On SmashWiki, having articles on smashers in the main space was not incorrect (see SmashWiki:Pool Room#Extension requests), so long as they were written in the third person and with decent facts and such. Don't be mean to him. :( --Sky (t | c | w) 06:02, 1 March 2008 (UTC)

That's going to change soon after finishing with page merges. All these mainspace "profiles" will be moved to the userspace where they belong. --Charitwo 06:03, 1 March 2008 (UTC)
Did you even read the discussion? There's going to be resistance to that. :/ While I agree with you that they shouldn't be in the main space (some of them should, as some of them are well known), you're going to have to go through the same thing I did. --Sky (t | c | w) 06:10, 1 March 2008 (UTC)
Regardless of the discussion, the mainspace is called article space for a reason. It's for content, not profiles/groups/clans/etc. --Charitwo 06:12, 1 March 2008 (UTC)
It is content/article space for SmashWiki'rs, though. Again, I stress that I agree with you that the majority of them shouldn't reside in the main space, or at least they should have an overhaul, but this isn't something you're going to get away with cleanly. >_<. --Sky (t | c | w) 06:20, 1 March 2008 (UTC)
I agree with Sky here, if you want to start moving a large % of smashwiki's content to a new namespace, you should really start a discussion thread about this on a talk page and let other people share their opinions. There is no ONE right way to organize a wiki's content and no ONE person should set a policy that affects this much content. With two communities merging there are bound to be different ways to do things.. neither is right or wrong and the communities should discuss with an OPEN mind until they reach a decision Together angies<staff /> (talk) 17:03, 1 March 2008 (UTC)

RE: SmashWiki:Merge/ Articles

Sorry, didn't know that :P King M (talkcontribslogs) March, 1 2007 21:23 (GMT +01)

Bowser

Forgot to undelete it. Could you do that and save to newest version of that version for me? Erik posted a hard copy of it that he had on hand, but I'd rather have the version which was deleted. Thanks! --Sky (t | c | w) 08:07, 3 March 2008 (UTC)

Well, it looks like it doesn't exist in the Merge list, so it seemed like unlike all the other pages, the SmashWiki Bowser article was actually deleted off the Internet during the merger process. If it's possible that and other "now-nonexistent articles" can be "un-deleted", though, that would be great. Erik Jensen (Appreciate me here!) 08:24, 3 March 2008 (UTC)

Dave the god guy need banning

the user "Dave the god guy" has done nothing but vandalize and needs to be banned. FyreNWater - (TalkContributions ) 07:51, 6 March 2008 (UTC)

You haven't responded

You are not responsible for deleting content, nor are you to be threatening other contributors. Do it again and you're blocked. --Charitwo 18:18, 26 February 2008 (UTC)

You posted that on my IP address, 24.6.103.162 a while ago, and I replied asking what I did. As I remember, I did nothing of that sort, and a quick look at my contributions [1] shows that I have done nothing wrong. I would really like it if you would reply to this as soon as possible, since you ignored my request last time. --Misken67 21:47, 6 March 2008 (UTC)

Will you please respond. I know that you've edited recently, due to me plowing through the logs. I really am curious at what I've done, or if a comment of mine seemed insult-ish. Thanks, --Misken67 04:55, 7 March 2008 (UTC)
I've been busy elsewhere, this is 1 wiki out of almost 6000 that I pop in on daily, although this is one of the focused ones, replies during the week are slim to none due to work and other stuff. And constantly being harassed for an answer won't get you answered sooner, it's inpolite. Anyways, as for your question, I've replied elsewhere. Cheers. --Charitwo 13:04, 7 March 2008 (UTC)

Yes, I've seen it. I remember asked once during the weekend, but it disappeared a few days later when I came back to check for answers. I don't know how, and a few clicks in "History" wouldn't reveal any results. Was it archived? Afterwards, I asked only twice, which hardly constitutes as "harassing". However, thanks for bringing it to my attention that I might be a bit harsh on IP users. I'll try to be nicer next time. --Misken67 01:08, 8 March 2008 (UTC)

Way to make me feel welcome

Deleting a completely harmless category which would have allowed smashers to find one another based on their interests. Thanos6 04:20, 14 March 2008 (UTC)

Revoking sysop

This may see mlike a strange question but is their a way to remove beuracrat/sysop rights? I'm not very active here anymore and feel this wiki is stable and now fat with articles. I tried to demote myself but could not. Can you do this or tell me how? Thanks. Bonko24 00:37, 16 March 2008 (UTC)

Undelete smasher redirect articles

Could you undelete the following articles?

DarkSpidey13 Geo635 Darkspidey13 CyberSaber

These page were redirects to a smasher page from the main namespace and should be restored because of the following policy (draft) sentence "The smasher page will be allowed a maximum of three redirects out of the main namespace and into the Smasher namespace." at User:Sky2042/Sandbox#Required Logan - (Talk  · Contributions) 13:21, 15 April 2008 (UTC)

No. The redirects aren't needed with the Mediawiki search functionality or pipelinking features. -- 13:39, 15 April 2008 (UTC)

Sorry to jump in here, but now I'm kind of confused. I was working under the assumption that Smasher articles would be redirected to their new locations out of the Main namespace rather than simply deleted entirely. This seems in accordance with how the policy draft used to read (and, since this was the policy draft that was in place when discussion took place, I believe it is the only policy draft that we can presume has community support). Even though the search functionality may still yield accurate results, and one can pipelink to make links to Smasher articles easier to write, this doesn't change a simple usability aspect: who will ever link to Mew2King (either on this wiki, or externally) and not expect the Smasher page? (That particular article is still a redirect, but based on this discussion, I'm assuming it's not supposed to be.) I support the notion that someone whose Smasher name is "Mario" doesn't deserve a redirect (except from "Mario (smasher)"), but I don't understand why a non-existent page in the main namespace should be preferable to a redirect, especially when the subject of the article in question is completely unambiguous. Replacing a legitimate content page with the equivalent of a 404 is entirely unfriendly to visitors who are looking for specific information, and I think we should avoid it at all costs.
But perhaps this is a discussion that should take place somewhere else. --Kirby King 16:24, 15 April 2008 (UTC)
Furthermore, I encourage you to read up on reasons for not deleting a redirect. --Sky (t · c · w) 03:46, 16 April 2008 (UTC)
