Naming[edit]

Why is this called Pound VI? The official name is "Pound 2016". I can see the argument for this being the sixth "serious" Pound event after Pound V, but them we have Pound V.5 in the middle. If anything I think this page should be named Pound 2016. The official Facebook event calls it Pound 2016, the official twitter acc, Smash.gg, Smashboards and even the official logo. Can I move this page from "Pound VI" to "Pound 2016"? The event is officially named "Pound 2016". There's no mention of "Pound VI" except from the community itself, also this is actually the 7th Pound event, after Pound V.5. PFFP (talk) 20:44, 15 December 2015 (EST)
Welp, I'm doing it. PFFP (talk) 12:18, 16 December 2015 (EST)

Upsets and milestones[edit]

Should be included in tournament pages. This is something we've done regularly in tournament pages, and I see no reason to stop now. Increasing page size matters very little. Serpent SKSig.png King 02:08, 4 April 2016 (EDT)

"With ZeRo's absence from the Smash 4 event due to medical issues, Abadango won his first major American tournament using Mewtwo, a character generally considered to be in the mid tiers. Dabuz failed to make top eight while Nairo was eliminated early on at a disappointing 49th place, his worst placing at a major so far. Marss and Pink Fresh also notably placed 3rd and 7th, respectively. In the Melee event, Hungrybox took his third major in a row without dropping a set, losing only a single game to Mango in grand finals; Mango additionally fell to Hax in winners' semis, though he later ousted him in losers' finals. Swedish Delight and Laudandus both made unexpected top eight finishes while InfiniteNumbers placed 9th at his first-ever major, beating DJ Nintendo, Alex19, MacD, and Mike Haze; Axe and Westballz also suffered early losses, placing 25th and 33rd respectively. "

It's unnecessary, and some of the info could go into the trivia regarding low placements. None of the recent majors have it (TBH5, G3 and Battle Of Five Gods, for example) so I don't see why this one should. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Shinon (talkcontribs) 02:10, 4 April 2016 (EDT)

That Mango lost to Hax is notable, that Mewtwo and Abadango finally won a major is notable, I don't see your point here. Serpent SKSig.png King 02:12, 4 April 2016 (EDT)

That's 2 things, however, I don't see how ZeRo not being able to come, low placements like Axe and Westballz for Melee and high placements like Marss and Pink Fresh are relevant at all to non-trivia parts of the page.
Instead of having this gigant thing, it could be added to the trivia page to some degree, similar to Nairo. (for example, "This has been the lowest placing for Axe since The Big House 5.) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Shinon (talkcontribs) 02:15, 4 April 2016 (EDT)
Well one could say that ZeRo is kinda good at this game, so people are going to be wondering why he didn't place in a major. Axe and Westballz's placements were indeed surprising. Serpent SKSig.png King 02:24, 4 April 2016 (EDT)
Yeah, im not saying that ZeRo is shit, or that Axe and West's placements weren't suprising, but im saying that they should be kept on the Trivia page, similar to Nairo, alongside Aba's win. (I think Aba's win is already on the Trivia page though.) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Shinon (talkcontribs) 02:27 4 April 2016 (EDT)
Having an overly large trivia section is far worse than having a larger base page, though... Serpent SKSig.png King 02:28, 4 April 2016 (EDT)
Im not saying that every single thing on that write up should be passed onto the trivia thing though, only the important things like ZeRo not making it and low placements. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Shinon (talkcontribs) 02:36, 4 April 2016 (EDT)
Sorry, I have to disagree. Also, remember, proper signing is done by putting ~~~~ at the end. Thanks! Serpent SKSig.png King 02:38, 4 April 2016 (EDT)

Summary[edit]

I'd like to gon record and say: we don't need this. The previous structure was fine, the intro text needed some work, and that last paragraph was a mess, but there's no need to be redundant with information. The intro text is where the tornament summary should go. PFFP (talk) 09:56, 4 April 2016 (EDT)

Addint to it: everything that follows "With ZeRo's absence from the Smash 4..." is basically over writen trivia. Should be scrapped. PFFP (talk) 09:58, 4 April 2016 (EDT)
I'm not seeing the problem. It's a little bit "fluff"-like, but it's presented as prose instead of trivia bullet points and contextualizes the rest of the page's results. Seems worthwhile to me. Miles (talk) 12:06, 4 April 2016 (EDT)

Salty Suite[edit]

I dunno anything about the exhibition but unless there is info to be added I would appreciate if an admin used <!--- ---> or something to get rid of it since it got fully protected and is a bit of an eyesore to me personally. Thanks. RobSir RobSir-sig.jpg zx 23:47, 4 April 2016 (EDT)

Request to add link[edit]

Can someone with access to this page please add a link for the event photography? https://tischphotos.smugmug.com/Esports-Photography/2016/Pound-2016 Thehard (talk) 10:05, 10 April 2016 (EDT)

Project M event[edit]

There was a Project M event here that was not sponsored by the event itself. Would it be considered a Side Event? I would like to add the results for it here, since the full results table isn't anywhere else on the site and it is mentioned in Reslived and Llod's results as Pound 2016, but I want to make sure of this so that nobody else has to change it later. Diamond444 (talk) 14:44, 14 March 2017 (EDT)

I think we've ultimately decided not to include events that weren't sponsored by the events themselves. We tried to once, but it caused all sorts of issues with the actual organizers themselves coming to the wiki to edit war with us because they weren't officially sanctioned by them. Would it be better to add a separate page then, like Project M at the Big House? I feel like it should have a place somewhere, since quite a few notable players placed and something notable did happen, mainly Reslived taking a set off of Professor Pro in winners. I, unfortunately, cannot make the page myself, but I did create the results table if anyone else wants to do it.

There's the other issue. PM in The Big House doesn't have a page anymore, and instead we put it in a userspace. It was determined that it was too small for its own separate page, and it seems like this falls under a similar problem. The best course of action would possibly be to put it in a userspace just like PM in The Big House. You'll be able to do that soon after you become autoconfirmed. Alright, thank you for the information.Diamond444 (talk) 17:01, 14 March 2017 (EDT)
What if we made a [List of Project M stand-alone side events] (or something that isn't that big a mouth full? Serpent SKSig.png King 17:41, 14 March 2017 (EDT)
That could work, provided there's enough tournaments for it. Disaster Flare My signature image for the default signature. Duplicate of Lucina's life white stock head. (talk) 17:43, 14 March 2017 (EDT)
