Loop[edit]

Quick Question: Why do we use the looping panoramic from the website instead of the unlooped one from when Terry is added in? It doesn't feel right seeing Ridley on two sides of the screen. Pratikmii03 (talk) 07:47, September 15, 2019 (EDT)

If there's an unlooped one, then upload it. The looped one is used when there isn't a unlooped version available. CookiesCnC Signature.pngCreme 08:47, September 15, 2019 (EDT)
Considering the last time an unlooped one was given to us was when Byleth was announced, being the last fighter of Volume 1. That probably means a unlooped one won't come out until Vol. 2 is finished. --GregoryTheGamer (talk) 17:38, June 23, 2020 (EDT)
Well this turned out to be wrong, thankfully. Regardless, a reminder that if someone finds a high-quality, non-looping one for Steve, it needs uploaded (there is one on Twitter but it's very low-quality since it's from a Twitter video and I think HQ looping seems to be preferred on here over low quality non-looping). I already checked the website where Byleth's was uploaded and while there is an article about Steve and Alex, the banner isn't there. Hopefully the high-quality loopless banner is released somewhere, maybe on the 13th when he's released. Aykrivwassup (talk) 20:36, October 6, 2020 (EDT)
There's a marginally less quality-crunched version of the banner update on YouTube. Still not ideal for quality purposes, though. Miles (talk) 20:43, October 6, 2020 (EDT)
Ah, thank you! I collect these on my computer too, so this will do for me until a better one is released. :) I actually made my own as well, but it's... not great XD I mean it's kinda hard to tell at first but if you compare it side by side with the other banners you can tell that the area around Steve is like a few pixels off, and the coloring is off too. Anyway thank you again, and I hope we find a good one soon! Aykrivwassup (talk) 22:03, October 6, 2020 (EDT)

If I may, I would like to ask where exactly the panorama currently used is coming from? It does not line up with the edge pieces of the image on the smash bros website (which are, in fact, looped) [1][2], which leads me to believe that it may be a fan edit of some kind. If that's the case, then I'm pretty sure the transparent panorama images incident serves as a precedent against portraying fan edits of official artwork as official artwork. The current image is found here and used in this official article. For use as my signature icon. Nokii — 17:16, December 11, 2020 (EST)
Speaking of, where's the final, high-quality version from? You'd assume it'd be from here, but that one's too low quality. 190.193.57.136 22:37, October 5, 2021 (EDT)

Best quality image[edit]

Here is a version of the mural that is much larger than the current one. Is this something we need to replace or is it not that important? Kirbman10 (talk) 09:24, October 13, 2021 (EDT)

Unfortunately that image is 20.8 MB and the wiki has a limit of 10 MB. I was able to get it under 10 MB by scaling it to 55%, but the file is a JPEG and so has to be resaved as a JPEG, thus resulting in JPEG artifacts appearing on the existing JPEG artifacts (which doesn't look good). Then there's the issue of the wiki's file being a PNG which, on top of not having JPEG artifacts, can't have a JPEG uploaded to it. Could save the JPEG as a PNG, but you have to scale it down a lot more for the same space because PNG inherently uses more space (as a lossless filetype) that works best on smooth color transitions and is now dealing with noisy JPEG artifacts. Though this doesn't seem to have stopped people before because the source file with Kazuya is a 0.263 MB JPEG and someone uploaded it as a 1.11 MB PNG (should've just made a new file for JPEG honestly).
In short, no. The current file is reasonably high-res and a proper PNG without any artifacting. Maybe it could be linked to, but I'd advise against an upload. --CanvasK (talk) 10:14, October 13, 2021 (EDT)
Alright, just wanted to make sure. Kirbman10 (talk) 10:42, October 13, 2021 (EDT)
