Re: Quality[edit]

Just to quickly go over what I could not fit in an edit summary:

  • Here is the concept art, as it appears in the game's Gallery Mode. There are three major problems: the UI at the bottom of the screen creates a blue glow on Ridley's tail; part of his right wing overlaps with the "CONFIDENTIAL Project M" stamp; and part of his left wing overlaps with the "back view" artwork.
  • Here is the raw file, directly ripped by The Spriters Resource. This fixes the issue with the UI, and while it's smaller in size, it is higher quality. Unfortunately, the issues with his wings are still present here.
  • Here is the render by Metroid Wiki. It is based on the in-game version, and therefore has the issues with the UI's blue glow and "back view" overlap. It appears to have been edited in an effort to remove the "CONFIDENTIAL" stamp, with some red tint left behind. Some detail in the outline has been lost due to the rendering technique.
  • Here is the version on Metroid Recon, which is taken from an unknown source. While it is smaller than the ripped image from The Spriters Resource, none of the three major problems are present in this version, making it the cleanest one to date, which is why this is the one that I have uploaded here.

Unfortunately, as you can tell from these links, no known version of this image contains the missing part of Ridley's tail. Google image searches only turn up variations of these four versions. If it exists out there somewhere, it's not going to be easy to find.

So, if it's so much trouble, why don't we just use a screenshot or render of his in-game Other M model? Because this concept art shows him with an orange torso. While this concept is not present in his Other M model, it is included in his SSB4 model, meaning that his SSB4 appearance is based on the concept art rather than the game itself. That's why this particular image of Other M Ridley is so essential, tail or no tail. --PeabodySam (talk) 18:41, 26 October 2018 (EDT)
